Re: Obamamaniacs
[Read the article: Hillary's time of troubles]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]@Anonymous, my feelings exactly. We're in the same frame of mind. In fact, we'll go one step further. If Hillary doesn't get nominated we will switch allegiances and ACTIVELY campaign for McCain among family, friends and neighbors. The economic and political challenges to this country, both foreign and domestic, are too great to allow us the luxury of four years of dreamy-eyed navel-gazing.
The Democrats are really their own worst enemies.

"All you fuckers are doing is the exact same 'poor me' play the Bushies have been pulling for the last seven years"
All us "fuckers"? "Fuckers"?
Well, FUCK YOU ASSHOLE !!!
And I would not be at all afraid to say that to your slimy, stinking, shithole of a face! In fact, if you were in front of me right now I would beat the shit out of you, you turd! You're a real coward, you know that, right? I'll bet you're some wimpy white-assed twenty-something who always got beaten up at school and cried home to mommy, who thinks he's all "cool" and "hip" now that he's an "Obamamaniac". Go home and watch your lame TV. You're useless to the world.
Asshole.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]"We're not hiring an accountant; we're electing a leader."
>>> At this point in America's history, with the economic mess we are in -- which will only get worse -- a good accountant is not a bad choice. Are you really willing to roll the dice with a "leader" with nothing else but "vision" who admits that he doesn't want policy papers handed to him unless he absolutely needs them because he will lose them? His words -- not mine.
"Hillary, competent beyond question, has no way of lifting us up. The fact that she has a vagina instead of a schlong means nothing."
>>> Subconcious misogyny always shows itself one way or another.
"Barack has about the same amount of experience as another outsider from Illinois: Abe Lincoln."
>>> It's about, what, 250 years since then? The world is a changed place, and much different. Also, the USA is not in the same position it was in back then -- economically, politically, militarily. Apples to Oranges.
"So, plod along and think that another Clinton pedestrian trade off is going to really move this nation in a really new way."
>>> The USA is a gigantic aircraft carrier that takes _decades_ to move in another cultural or political direction. Too much inertia, conflicting interests, etc. On the other hand, bust a big enough hole in an aircraft carrier's hull and it will sink _pretty_ fast. So don't try to make the argument that Obama will be able to move the country that way in just 4 years. False Hopes.
"In most ways, she's her husband without the fellatio problem. Bright, well versed, and without genius."
>>> See entry re misogyny
"Obama has about the same experience as Lincoln, Jefferson, and Robert Kennedy if he'd not been murdered."
>>> You need to give a lot more documented proof before making that statement.
"Vote your heart. I have no problem with that. But it has nothing to do with feminism, or anything other than an anchor tied to the past."
>>> Thank you for at least respecting her opinion.
"Obama is the way forward, not because he has any megalomaniac pretensions, but because he has the vision, the eloquence, and the determination to move this country in a dramatic way. God knows we need it."
>>> Again with the "vision" thing. We all have "visions". You have it, I have it, my next door neighbor with the cat has it. But can he get it done? Do you really believe that everyone will agree with him just because he says so? A simple test: US carmakers need cheap steel to manufacture cars cheaper, but US steelmakers want to sell steel at a higher price to remain profitable. The latter wants import tariffs on foreign steel while the former opposes them. Which one will Obama help? Will "vision" help with that? Either way, American workers will be laid off. Will they love him for his "vision" when they have to tell their kids they've been foreclosed and have to leave their house? You oversimplify, as all Obamamaniacs do. You let "vision" cloud out reality because it's the easy way out.
"Hillary is Bill in a pants-suit. Ho hum."
>>> See misogyny entry above.

"And the great thing about it is this: the GOP just don't have enough people on their side to prevail in the new politics"
Really? Well, if Clinton doesn't get the nomination (which looks to be the case) then me and my wife are switching to McCain. He's already promised to abolish the Alternative Minimum Tax, which is sweet music to my ears -- and to many other working Americans like me who prefer Dunkin' Donuts coffee to the Neolibs' Starbucks. I always supported the Democratic Party -- even if it meant paying what I consider way too much tax on my income -- but you've moved too far left for me. Adios.
