"Hmm...
I really did think that this read well at first but the farther I got it lost its attraction...

I think we're at a time of profound "change" not because BO won the WH, but because there are just too many great technological advances that we are beginning to crack. Just yesterday, researchers at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute announced an all-time high of 96.21% photon absorption using a new antireflective coating. It also precludes the necessity of having to use a bunch of the energy collected to reposition for angle. That is _massive_. Solar power will be what fuels our next transformative period (short of figuring out how to just go ahead utilize the magnetosphere already). Wind is a close third, but we need to look at it on a micro-scale vs. building massive turbines. Nuclear power (and by reference fossil fuels) are dead sticks - they're based on utilizing decay.

That Rensselaer Polytechnic study is gonna' come in real handy with the Moon Thrusters...

This touching, unbounded faith in technology is likely to take us down the same wrong developmental path we've been following since technology was unleashed.
Technology is doubtless essential to help us dig ourselves out of the hole that GW Bush and Gang have dug us (the US and for the rest of the world) into over the past 8 years - but technology will by no means be sufficient to help us dig ourselves out of it!
What's needed first of all is to enhance our 'societal wisdom', our ability to create wisdom out of the knowledge we gain of the world. We're a far cry away from that! However, from what (as an outsider; not a US citizen) I've seen of Barack Obama, his speeches, his sentiments expressed, I feel there IS indeed a possibility that he may well enable and enhance the societal wisdom applied to the situations we confront. GW Bush was notable is that, in EACH AND EVERY situation he confronted, he ensured the most foolish decisions were always taken!
-- The crusading US attack by GW Bush and Gang on Afghanistan - without attempting to win the support for his 'War on Terror' of moderate Muslims around the world who were appalled by 9/11 (this group then comprised the VAST majority of Muslims) - that was the first 'Bushism'; (I use the word 'Bushism' to denote any spectacular societal foolishness).
-- This first Bushism GW Bush then followed up by the even more idiotic (and in fact criminal) attack on Iraq, with the ostensible justification of those famous 'WMD', etc, etc;
-- GW Bush's domestic initiatives - from Katrina to social security to the PATRIOT Act to the Supreme Court justices he pushed in to the appointments of Attorney General - were, each of them, more such foolishness; (The only marginally wise appointment that GW Bush ever made was, apparently, that of Robert Gates to succeed the execrable Don Rumsfeld; I remove Colin Powell from the list of worthy appoinments made by GW Bush because of his willingness to lie to the UN on Bush's orders and on Bush's behalf);
(Probably GW Bush's alcoholic delusion that Jesus Christ advises him daily on every matter is the prime cause of all his idiocies).
The whole melange of Bushist idiocy, incompetence, and downright dishonesty thus far has brought the US (and the rest of the world) to the ruin that's staring us in the face today. (It appears that GW Bush is doing even more today - in his last 70-odd days left over - to bring further ruin on the US and the world, economically and ecologically! The New York Times, and other publications, have pointed out various instances).
And US citizens are still slumbering!
If Obama does somehow manage to perform the huge educational task that's needed for the US and its citizens - and if by thus promoting societal wisdom he is able to enable us (the US and the world) dig itself out of the hold we are in today - then he would surely be a very great president.

How does it smell in that VERY ripe garbage heap in which you find yourself today, where history has tossed you (along with GW Bush + Dick Cheney [war criminals]; John McBush + Moosehunter Palin [would-be criminals]; Billy Crystal and all those opinionators of that rotten hue and stink; and all your friends, "terkoy", "sueann22", "something stinks" and that whole very smelly bunch that seems to have gone somewhat silent since Nov 5, a bit at least)?
Odoriferous enough for you????
Have a good time, y'hear, boy!

How does it smell down there in history's garbage heap where you and the rest of your gang (starting with GW Bush + Dick Cheney) have been tossed since Nov 5th?
Y'all have a GOOD time, y'hear, boy!

The political views of "terkoy", "elephant_turd", "sueann22", "something stinks" and many others like them have just been tossed into history's garbage heap by US voters on November 4th, where they are doubtless adding to the general bad odour there. (GW Bush, Dick Cheney, John McBush, Sarah Moosehunter, Karl Rove and others are already there stinking up the grabage heap).
It won't be long before their views on economics, ecology, energy, society and practically all issues receive the same treatment, which is exactly as it should be. We should celebrate with song and dance when they have been finally put where they've always deserved to be.

Isn't there a song about this?
If not, it certainly should be written now!
Klytus - perhaps you'd like to do the lyrics? (Don't forget to put into that smelly, stinky garbage dump GW Bush, Dick Cheney, John McBush, Sarah Moosehunter, and also various trolls whom we've been hearing here).

Durian Joe:
Obama won, and good government is finally back.
I'd modify that slightly to read as follows:
"Obama won, and the potential for good government is finally back. There was ZERO potential for that during the reign of GW Bush, War Criminal, and this potential did not look to be improving any if John McBush and Sarah Moosehunter had won."
I do believe Obama would genuinely work to provide good governance. (There was no hope of any kind of anything genuine coming out of the Rethuglicans. However, I must observe that good governance from Obama's administration will depend a great deal on you US citizens, a little on us citizens of other nations around the world. It really is up to all of us to ensure good governance - of the USA; and of the hundreds of other nations that must contribute to a better tomorrow.

You loooooooser!!
You and your whole gang of losers (starting with GW Bush and Dick Cheney, War Criminals) have been dumped in history's smelly garbage heap - where I hope you will stay till the Second Coming and beyond that.
How does it smell down there?

That opening illustration was wonderful.
Look at that face of the 'outgoing President'.
Isn't it just about the most wonderful thing to happen in at least eight years that he is "outgoing"??
What Obama should probably do: Investigate each and every one of GW Bush's acts as President (which were mostly illegal) and rescind all of them that are possible by Presidential order.
