Addition to my letter to "Slut"

Ah, yes. Cary has to dish out advice also. Right. So he should have said something along the following lines:

+++

Stuck: You should have signed as "Slut" instead.

Here is my advice to you. Tell your 'friend' about what you have done. Take her fiance off her hands (that would be behaving as a real friend to her). Get married to him. Live unhappily ever after.

+++

[Does my advice make me come across as 'moralistic'? Sorry, no, that's not it at all. I have slept around a good bit in my time, and I still do, though now alas I get much fewer opportunities than I used to: agewise, I'm in my late 'sixties. I'm successful in my search for sexual partners only quite infrequently these days. But the partners/wives of my friends - whether they're young, middle-aged, or old - are firmly and quite definitely off-limits, even when and if they may make themselves available to me: one absolutely does not fuck one's friends or their wives/partners in ANY way!!!]

Original article: George W. Bush: "Awesome!"

Awesome and awful

Even more awesome, or should I say AWFUL, has been the fact that US citizens have not yet thrown this war criminal out of power and into jail where he properly belongs for the rest of his miserable life.

To: GW Bush, fbair1, elephant wienie and other heroes of our age

Here's something I sent in as a comment to a recent New York Times editorial (July 25, 2008 EDITORIAL, Wounded Warriors, Empty Promises http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/25/opinion/25fri1.html) which I thought might give you a chuckle or two:

Well, I guess the wounded warriors can always settle for the great consolation of GW Bush flying his warplane, all dressed up in his itsy-bitsy yellow pilot suit, all the way to Baghdad to get photographed sharing some phony plastic Thanksgiving turkey with their comrades.
What's that you said? He had worn that pilot suit to fly to the carrier USS Abraham Lincoln to announce "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!", NOT for the photo-op with Thanksgiving turkey? Wow! That IS a consolation!

Original article: Walking on air

Glorious achievement!

What a glorious achievement was Philippe Petit's "work of art", that wonderful dance on a thin wire suspended between the Twin Towers!

One can only salute M. Petit in breathless admiration.

(And recommend that GW Bush, War Criminal and Incompetent Liar-Thief-Scoundrel - along with his whole Gang of War Criminals and those foolish/criminal US citizens who follow him - should all be forced to watch the movie even though they are utterly incapable of understanding its revolutionary significance).

And thanks for that grand review of a great film!

A graceful compliment indeed...

Shoprama:

That was a gracious and graceful compliment to Andrew O'Hehir, whose review of the film was one of the best I've had the good fortune to read.

You can fool all the people...

Actually, it's all quite simple:

-- Science is an attempted explanation of "the way the world works (at various levels)". But science has illumined only a small portion of reality; it may never be able to illumine all of reality - as all of reality is just too vast for the micro-intelligence that evolution has brought to our human minds. Science is sometimes extremely effective; sometimes quite ineffective (as evidence, witness the mess we have made of this planet).

But the 'area of effectiveness' of science keeps growing (by no means rapidly enough, I'm afraid).

-- Religion is the authoritative explanation of the way the world does NOT work, NEVER has worked, NEVER will work. It has managed to hoodwink, convince and enslave millions for ages (just as it has successfully managed to hoodwink the author of this piece, "What's wrong with science as religion", Karl Giberson, a supposed 'scientist').

What was it that some wise man said (was it Abraham Lincoln?) "You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time." Right on, Honest Abe!

But, Honest Abe, both Religion and Politics have gone a step further than you ever thought they could: the state of the world today provides all the evidence needed right here that just that much is more than sufficient for all the power and pelf that's needed for the crooks and thieves in this world! Look at GW Bush, for instance, who put together the two 'fields of foolery', Politics and Religion, to dazzling effect, to win the right to rule the USA (the world's sole superpower, no less!) as President, not just once, but TWICE OVER...Wisdom of the people, indeed!

Amazing, to put it mildly... I for one would not have trusted GW Bush to operate my children's piggy bank fund, but you US citizens have given him billions on billions of dollars to play with - and HOW he has played with your nation (and with you)! Once again, how did that fine saying go? "You can fool all the people..."

The BEST comedy show

No one selected the clown show put up by GW Bush, POTUS?

That is, by far, absolutely the very BEST comedy running anywhere in the world!

"Prosecute the Bush administration...?"

Name the names!

-- GW Bush, War Criminal.

-- Dick Cheney, War Criminal.

-- Members of this current War Criminal administration of the USA.

They certainly deserve to be impeached (all those impeachable) and they certainly deserve to be jailed (the whole sorry bunch of them, for the rest of their miserable lives)!

Will such justice be done?

I doubt it.

Original article: Let the games begin!

Two good things that will happen at the Olympic Games!

Excellent article, thanks.

There are just two things I want to see at the Olympics, apart from the wondrous spectacle of human athletic endeavour at its peak:

1) The Chinese leadership humiliated for what they've done to Tibet;

2) GW Bush and Gang humiliated for what they've done to the world.

These two good things will surely happen (I do believe though I do not know how).

Taking people seriously...

Elephanturds asks: "Does anyone take Susskind seriously any more?"

I ask: Did anyone EVER take Elephanturds seriously? If they did, more fool they!
