  • Parties suck and the two party system particularly sucks

The concept of blind allegiance is so repugnant that I have never been a member of a party and most likely never will.

Sorry you are having such an awakening.

The bullets you listed are many of the reasons I am so against Pelosi being returned to office. While she may not be a Blue Dog, she has caved on war funding time and time again. Not to mention her FISA traitor status and tacit approval of Bu$h's rendition/torture programs. Time for incumbents like her to go! They are the problem.

Parties are willing to accept what should be unacceptable all to maintain or increase their theoretical power. Doing the right thing because it is the right thing to do is all too swiftly tossed to the side for false compromise in the pursuit of false majority. Taking a stand is verboten.

  • Oh, heavens! Only a year!

How interesting that Sheehan should be criticized by omooex for only having had a platform for A YEAR.

How interesting indeed when you take into account that Sheehan announced her candidacy ONE YEAR and SIX DAYS ago in response to Pelosi continuing refusal to consider impeachment.

By omooex's standards those alleged six days without a platform are FATAL.

Google and you will see Sheehan announced her candidacy July 23, 2007.

"A year ago today, The Camp Casey Peace Institute's Journey for Humanity was in Washington, DC. We led an unpermitted march from Arlington Cemetery to John Conyers' office on Capitol Hill (quite a long march in the DC heat and humidity). Our focus was on impeachment. John Conyers was then and still is the Chair of the House Judiciary Committee that would oversee any kind of accountability for any member of the administrative branch".

"After speedily going through security, 400 of us lined the corridors of the Rayburn office building and 3 of us met with Conyers: Myself, Rev. Lennox Yearwood of the Hip Hop Caucus and Ray McGovern, retired CIA agent (who also sat on the Downing Street Hearing panel with me in June 2005). We got absolutely nowhere with Conyers, so 49 of us were arrested in his office. But before we were hauled off in handcuffs, I announced my candidacy against Nancy Pelosi in California's 8th district in San Francisco to a phalanx of press lurking in the hallway."

(The words of Cindy Sheehan published by Bay Area Indymedia on 23 July 2008)

Robert1014 is spot on - omooex is part of the problem.

Heaven forbid that we should question or challenge the incumbent!

    Every Dem is sacred!

For those interested in Sheehan's platform -- I'll dig the literature I snagged while visiting her campaign HQ out of my luggage and post it in a bit. I found nothing I disagreed with and much to commend.

Also - Sheehan is turning in the signatures required to get on the ballot today - well in advance of the August 8 deadline. She will be only the sixth independent candidate to gain ballot access in California.

  • So only having a platform for a year is now ok?

    Umm...

Hate to break it to you, omooex, but Sheehan has more to say than merely impeach.

Also - you are the one who brought up Sheehan in this thread and claimed she had only had a platform for a year - never mind that she's only been a candidate for a year and six days.

I have no idea how long it took Sheehan to formulate her platform, but at least I've taken the time to figure out what it is. You don't seem to have a clue.

If you took the time to actually educate yourself about a candidate running in *your very own Congressional district* before spouting off, you might uncover that this is Sheehan's platform/issues/values statement of record:

*Holding our leaders responsible and not taking "accountability" off the table.

    *Bringing our troops home, NOW!

*Restoring Habeus Corpus and repealing the Patriot Act

*Honoring the voters and the Constitution - not party loyalties and corporate donors.

*Fiscal responsibility from the government: Money for schools - Not for bombs!

*Clean Living = Green Living for a healthy planet.

*LGBT Rights - Respecting and protecting everyone's right to be who they were born to be & love who they want to.

    *Accessible, affordable healthcare for everyone.

*Comprehensive immigration reform that is reasonable, ethical and legal.

*A strong economy means livable wages and affordable housing.

Again, the above bullets are from a flier I grabbed while visiting her campaign HQ this past week. Sheehan's web site, myspace and blogs provide much more detail and are easy to find.

I am from Texas and only wish I had the option of voting for a Congressional Representative who thinks this way.

What omooex has written about Sheehan leaves me with the impression that omooex hasn't examined primary sources.

Perhaps I am wrong, but I only have what omooex has written here to judge and so far it is lacking.

You know where you can put that straw man. :-)

[Read the article: Are Kaine and Bayh the best Obama can do?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Despite the M$M's obsession with the corporate owned uniparty other wise known as the Democratic and Republican parties, there are other choices.

Even though Chris Matthews and his ilk continue to insist there are only two candidates for president, other people are running.

PS - Picking Kaine would be the equivalent of giving women yet another big F-you. Check out the man's reproductive choice beliefs. Sad.

Not sure why you bother with Alecsmom. She constantly prevaricates. Her comment history outs her as a forced birther.

Trying to sell Kaine as pro-choice.

    *snort*

PS -- If St Obama chooses Kaine as his running mate, will bernbart finally wake up and smell the misogyny?
