Off Topic: Fisa
[Read the article: Beltway myth: "The left-wing base" vs. "the American people" on Iraq]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Since we have a day reprieve due to the funeral, please get on the phone and call Senate Majority Leader Reid's office and ask him to pull the FISA bill.
For good measure, browbeat four or five friends or family members into calling as well.
Again, the pertinent phone numbers are:
Washington DC Office: 202-224-3542
Reno Office: 775-686-5750
Vegas Office: 702-388-5020
The Washington DC office line has an option that takes you straight to voice mail, so you can call 24/7.
The blog referenced by EJ on page 31 -- http://cboldt.blogspot.com/ -- has depressing vote total predictions on the amendments, cloture and final passage.
Perhaps if Reid's office is completely flooded with call, he will come to his senses on this issue.
I know I am being overly optimistic, but one must keep one's chin up in dark times.

Make sure Reid hears our displeasure
[Read the article: Aug. 8, 1974 vs. July 9, 2008]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I feel like a broken record sort of commenter posting this information constantly, but if only a handful of people call - it'll be worth it.
Please take the time to call Senate Majority Leader and hypocrite of the year, Reid and demand he do his duty and pull the FISA bill.
Let him know we aren't fooled by his attempt to cover his ass with a no vote all the while knowing the bill will pass.
For good measure, please browbeat four or five friends or family members into calling as well.
Again, the pertinent phone numbers are:
Washington DC Office: 202-224-3542
Reno Office: 775-686-5750
Vegas Office: 702-388-5020
If you have it in you and I think most readers of GG do, continue on and call your Senators.
The main switch board at the Senate can be reached with this number: 202-224-3121
We need to flood their offices with calls from outraged constituents.
PS - Thank you, GG, for the wonderful ad. I made my third Act Blue FISA contribution this Saturday. As promised, it was my beer and pizza money for the week which is more than you might think. I'm off to pledge for the money bomb.

Money Bomb
[Read the article: Aug. 8, 1974 vs. July 9, 2008]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The www.accountabilitynowpac.com web site did not ask for a dollar amount when I pledged to donate - only name, email addy and zip.
Is this correct?
Just wondering...

The Silence of Salon
[Read the article: Are Democrats backpedaling on abortion rights?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]So here we are seven days and counting after Senator Obama backtracked on abortion and Salon has nothing to say.
I realize it was a holiday weekend, but Senator Obama's comments were made last Tuesday to Relevant Magazine and were picked up by the AP pretty quickly.
And yet, Salon published horrible propaganda instead.
Hello! Hello! Is anyone other than Glen Greenwald working this week?
To help you out, here is the link to Relevant Magazine's article:
http://www.relevantmagazine.com/life_article.php?id=7591
And here is a link to a post that contains Senator Obama's confusing and ever so full of BS clarification which hit the web on Saturday 5 July a full two days before this piece by traitors Michelman and Kissling:
http://blogs.abcnews.com/legalities/2008/07/obama-revisits.html
Where is the Salon article about Senator Obama's backpedaling on abortion rights???

Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse...
[Read the article: Aug. 8, 1974 vs. July 9, 2008]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]So I'm over at myspace using bulletins and posts to urge more folks to donate to the Act Blue fund, call the senate, pledge for the money bomb, etc, etc...
(Don't laugh - one of the myspace pages I run for an anti-immigrant detention protest organization has almost 3000 networked profiles and those bulletins go viral quickly)
...when a bulletin from The Man Common - myspace's civil libertarian answer to the drudge report who is perhaps the best news aggregater around - catches my eye.
It is a post from a Washington Times blog. The subject was "Want some torture with your peanuts?" and this is a teaser:
Just when you thought you’ve heard it all...
A senior government official with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has expressed great interest in a so-called safety bracelet that would serve as a stun device, similar to that of a police Taser®.
According to this promotional video found at the Lamperd Less Lethal website, the bracelet would be worn by all airline passengers.
This bracelet would:
• take the place of an airline boarding pass
• contain personal information about the traveler
• be able to monitor the whereabouts of each passenger and his/her luggage
• shock the wearer on command, completely immobilizing him/her for several minutes
The Electronic ID Bracelet, as it’s referred to as, would be worn by every traveler “until they disembark the flight at their destination.” Yes, you read that correctly.
Every airline passenger would be tracked by a government-funded GPS, containing personal, private and confidential information, and that it would shock the customer worse than an electronic dog collar if he/she got out of line?

Just gotta love how DHS is spending those billions to protect us from them terrorists.
Yes, DHS is funding this.
