Democrats are perceived as weak because they tremble before GOP sabre rattling, not because their national defense positions are weak. John Kerry would have won if he had just had the balls to say, "As an officer and a gentleman, I dare you to say that to my face".
I am an anomaly as an anti-war conservative. I am interested in a candidate who walks the walk, not just talks the talk in stopping our current path of self-destructive aggression in the Middle East and Central Asia.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]The reality is that we are setting the stage for the Chinese to dominate the world in the 21st century. Our military is being destroyed to the point where we will never be able to effectively respond to any actual threat from a foreign power with a military of their own.
The entire world now sees us as a paper tiger and justly so. Bush has reduced our Army to a creaking ruin, same as the Constitution. The chest thumping GOP selection of candidates is so far removed from reality as to be a joke to anyone outside our borders.
I recently spoke with some Canadians who stated, "The propaganda that we saw from the US during WWII was nothing compared to what we see today. We like Americans, but it's embarrassing to think that you people actually put up with these lies."

It's a real two edged sword. If it's repaired too quickly it looks like racism; if not by the GOP convention, it's a living reminder of the failed policies by the guys down at the convention center whooping it up with American Pride. -

Compare the Photos

[Read more letters about this article: Here]Compare the photos of the real bin Laden with the fake "bin Ladens" from the current AP photos showing 2004 and 2007 video captures. There's deliberate distortion patterns imposed on the video images which only vaguely resemble the real photos in the first place.
How could anyone believe either:
1. Bin Laden can't afford to produce a professional quality video
or
2. Whoever took these video captures can't afford a $29 copy of Quicktime Pro to pull the entire video off the web in pristine condition?
BULLSHIT!
There's even a third "bin Laden" from another fake video where he's shown wearing gold which any devout Muslim would shun.
Bin Laden is most likely dead and is simply Emmanuel Goldstein for this administration's Big Brother.

If Senator Clinton wins the election in 2008, nothing will change. She won't admit her vote to empower Bush was wrong because she's in favor of the occupation herself. She's just another pawn of the Pro-Israel lobby for whom our troops are suffering and dying.
To paraphrase Orwell, as long as there's an abundance of cheap beer, pornography and a lottery, the citizenry will remain cowed and subservient to whatever regime reigns in Washington no matter what they do.
What used to be the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave is now the Land of the Overweight and the Home of the Poor who fight instead of Them. Face facts, most Americans will buy into anything they're sold through TV as long as they don't have to think or do anything difficult.
As Homer Simpson once told Bart, "If it's hard, it's just not worth it". That apparently includes the defense of our country's value from a group of politicos who would make a banana republic dictatorship look like Jeffersonian democracy.
