Original article: Pelosi's victory for women

Misplaced mettle

Pelosi is the queen of divisiveness, not a title to be admired.

Fix Medicare First

Obama says that he's going to pay for two-thirds of his health-care "plan" by eliminating the "billions of waste and fraud" associated with Medicare.

Well, I'm not from Missouri, but I say "prove it" and challenge Obama to reclaim those billions BEFORE any health-care legislation is passed or signed.

I also want to know how any new government-run health plan is going to avoid accumulating billions in waste and fraud, much less a deficit of billions. Witnessing the deficits of government-run entities such as USPS, Amtrak, Social Security, Fannie, and Freddie doesn't offer much hope.

By the way, Obama neglected to mention that Medicare has a running deficit of $38 trillion and is forecast to go bankrupt in 2017. That puts the lie to "hope and change" on a real scale.

Pelosi & Obama should examine their racist attitudes!

Oh, please. Pelosi needs to look in the mirror before shedding any more crocodile tears. Who labeled citizens with the terms "astroturf" and "Nazis." Perhaps Pelosi has conveniently forgotten those statements just as she forgot about the CIA briefings.

And Obama is not innocent in regard to race baiting. Remember his "clinging to guns and religion" remark and his characterization of "typical white person" during the campaign. Then there was his warning that Bush and McCain would tell people he didn't look like other presidents on the U.S. currency. Never mind that Obama's claim was fictional. He effectively planted the image of Bush and McCain as racists.

Obama's entry into the professor/cop situation was pure stupidity. A former attorney and law lecturer giving an opinion while admitting he didn't have all the facts, and he was president of the Harvard Law Review?

Both Pelosi and Obama need to examine their racist attitudes before pointing fingers at others.

Original article: How sorry is Joe Wilson?

Who read the bill?

Interesting that Obama stepped heavily into the fray concerning the police officer and the professor, but didn't have the courage to step into the Wilson-House fray, which he precipitated.

Yes, Obama did lie. The "plan" that he regurgitated during his speech was primarily HR 3200, which has a glaring omission of any requirement to verify someone's immigration or citizenship status. An amendment requiring eligibility verification before qualifying someone to receive a taxpayer subsidy was voted down by the House Ways and Means Committee. There is a similar loophole favoring illegal immigrants in the Medicaid provisions of HR 3200.

Credit Wilson with knowing the provisions of HR 3200. Credit Obama with reading a teleprompted speech.

And Wilson was vindicated last Friday, when the White House issued a "clarification" of its position on participation in its "plan" by illegal aliens. For the first time, the White House acknowledged that it will be necessary to implement a verification system so that illegals can't sign up for the proposed insurance exchange.

Interesting that the Black Caucus and many columnists in the MSM are playing their race cards once again on the Wilson incident. It was all about "policy" when Bush was booed openly by Democrats during his 2005 State of the Union address and when Representative Pete Stark called Bush a "liar" on the floor of the House. Double standard?

Original article: What went wrong?

Obama Misjudged the Intelligence of Americans

In addition to the missteps stated in the article, Obama misjudged the intelligence of the American people. He thought he could snow them with the same old campaign rhetoric. Instead, they asked for facts about health-care (or health-insurance) reform, and he responded with platitudes and anecdotes. When he began exaggerating doctor's fees by thousands of dollars, he really lost me. Hyperbole doesn't suit a president.

No surprises here

No surprises here. Obama was elected solely on his "hope and change" platitudes. He has no record of leadership. He served as a lackluster state senator and only a partial term as a U.S. senator. His main credential in regard to legislation is voting "present."

In the town halls, Obama has been playing a role, turning up his shirt sleeves, trying to look like a real working guy while hawking a phantom bill.

To date, Obama has demonstrated that he's not up to the office of the presidency. He's allowed Congress to lead on all the legislation while he's been content to sign off on a few executive orders with a flourish of his pen and see the world with his family on Air Force One jaunts.

More rhetoric

Obama's race speech was merely rhetoric. Recall that he grandly defended his association with Wright in that speech, and then when Wright became a political liability, Obama didn't hesitate to throw his valued mentor under the bus.

What's become clear is that Obama was packaged by Axelrod as the "right bi-racial product" for the presidency. The hoopla created around Obama's "tingling" rhetoric blinded people to the fact that Obama had no credentials as a leader, much less as leader of this nation. Obama continues to be magnificent at barnstorming but he has not led any legislation; he leaves the latter work to Congress and to his aides. He's merely the face of the presidency.

Currently, he's proclaiming the value of the health care (health insurance) legislation, which hasn't even been finalized. In fact, there are 5 different bills moving through committees. Why is Obama wasting his time and Americans' time on championing legislation that doesn't exist yet?

Thursday, August 6, 2009 08:37 AM

Discussing provisions is pointless

Since 5 different versions of the health care legislation exist, discussing provisions is pointless.

What is relevant is that the CBO estimates the current proposals will result in a $65 billion deficit, and considering that Medicare already has an unfunded liability of $37 trillion, the result will be a budget abyss.

Can Obama and his fellow Democrats do math?

Your comment "who cares?" about Obama's reinvented "facts" is indicative of how naive Americans have chosen to be. Do some research. Check the facts for yourself. We need to call our elected representatives on their honesty, no matter what their party ties may be.
