@aka smith...fanning the flames...yes because
[Read the article: My last word (for now) on sexism]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]yes, there is an element of sexism. Ok, we agree on that. But why do we have more blogs and not journalistic posts on the point? I say fanning because there are other points to discuss but she has gotten into a pissing match.

@aka smith...i am disappointed
[Read the article: My last word (for now) on sexism]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I thought you were interested in serious conversation then you quote some dumbass? that isn't a response or honorable...how old are you?
-
@aka smith...the point is you don't recognize a critical black writer
[Read the article: My last word (for now) on sexism]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I don't know what to say....the important black thinkers are ignored...or they don't appear on the "progressive" website.
It is not your fault..you are obviously an intelligent person

@aka smith and Salon has no class
[Read the article: My last word (for now) on sexism]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Salon's continued obtuseness about poverty is infuriating. Too many liberals would be offended I guess if they actually had to confront how many people actually live. I would also love to see something about how our tax code and corporate welfare benefit the rich, but that would just make toooooo many people uncomfortable here.
I have tried to raise such points...Salon does a decent job doing Macro glosses but beyond that I don't think so much of their economic coverage. For example the bill passed by the Senate addressing the housing problem of the 25 Billion to be spent only 3 billion goes to home owners and the rest goes to builders. Maybe I missed the story, but alas we have Joan inciting silly disputes and VERY little investigative work..other than our beloved Glenn.
-
@aka smith..ignore list?
[Read the article: My last word (for now) on sexism]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]what is that? that is just silliness or cowardness.

@lateagain
[Read the article: My last word (for now) on sexism]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I know what you are saying...it puts things in perspective and can make one short tempered with silly disputes...but class remains the prime cause.

@lateagain
[Read the article: My last word (for now) on sexism]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Why doesn't Joan start a Blacksheet with sepia tones? I keep saying it, but Joan's post on Rev. Wright was the only thing I saw on Salon. As someone suggested recently it won't be soon before Salon chases the white girl gone missing story.
How about a working class page?

[Read the article: My last word (for now) on sexism]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]LMAO...well put

@AAbiker
[Read the article: "We'll make you see death"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]what you said! I guess these ads have helped to triple the viewership under the esteemed editor-in-chief...or at least has increased salaries.

@TRenee Obama and Chicago
[Read the article: My last word (for now) on sexism]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Very well put! I hope AKA Smith can muster the concentration to get what you are saying.

"What is Wrong with being sexy?"
[Read the article: My last word (for now) on sexism]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]-Nigel Tuffnel in "This is Spinal Tap".
I think people need to relax and laugh a bit. Yes sexism exists...and Hillary has gotten some crap but that is NOT why she is trailing.can we move on?
-
@AKA Smith...you don't say????
[Read the article: My last word (for now) on sexism]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"Your point is taken. Of course I would be more likely to see sexism than racism. I am a white female. I have had more sexism than racism directed me."
No kidding...who coulda thunk! You might want go to another level of abstraction if you are to be taken seriously...ADD aside.

As Joan is under fire I have to ask...
[Read the article: TV Daily]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]If Salon wants to pose as progressive, couldn't the pop culture gurus do reviews on substantive shows and suggest people watch Bill Moyers, Frontline or NOW? Heaven forbid that people be distracted and have to confront SOME media that directly addresses issues of class. This site is like school on Saturday in the 1950's Oak Park Chicago...No class and no blacks.

@liamdell
[Read the article: Hey, Obama boys: Back off already!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"Calling Sen. Clinton a "bitch" is cheap, easy and inarticulate. Obama and McCain supporters should have actual reasons for supporting their candidate and opposing Clinton. Say so!"
Did you read 3/4 of the letters posted by Obama supporters or just remaining conveniently ignorant?
-
Much worse than Hillary's Opportunism?
[Read the article: Kristol plays the Marx card]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The ridiculous statements of Kristol are not getting thru to joe or joan lunch bucket in PA. Where they are getting it is thru Hillary's opportunism and media like Salon. Every time Obama takes on a COMPLICATED and controversial issue he gets shouted down and accused of various things by pro-Hillary folks. He offers one of the most honest speeches on race in decades and it is either dismissed or ignored.
-
The token liberal on NPR
[Read the article: Kristol plays the Marx card]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Last week on Talk of the Nation during a show on news media Kristol, as a member of the NYT, was given the "liberal" seat on their panel....

@xanthro
[Read the article: McCain confused about Petraeus' job, chain of command]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]What about the dozens of military leaders who have been ignored, resigned or were fired?
-
@doloresflower
[Read the article: Did the "bitter" flap affect the race?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]What you Said! With all the articles on sexism this was a very fresh breath of air!
-
Shameful "journalism" and grammar...it is DEMOCRATIC!
[Read the article: The "distractions" debate]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"The Democrat Debate"? Are you kidding me...Are Frank Luntz and Rush Limbaugh the editors at ABC? I guess Democrat's Debate might be an excuse...but "DEmocrat debate"? SHAMEFUL
-
Luntz/Rush win..it is now the Democrat party and not the Democratic Party...shameful!
[Read the article: Obama and Clinton fizzle in Philly]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]It is amazing that the ABC and the public has completely swallowed the Orwellian trick sponsored by Frank Luntz, Rush, Sean et. al. of changing the name of the Democratic Party to the Democrat Party. It would be nice if this switch from Democratic party/candidate/primary etc to "democrat" was the result of some bias, but it appears, as Luntz and the machine hoped for, that it has passed seamlessly into popular vernacular. SHAMEFUL!
-
However bad...there was an interesting point: Class and ignored HERE
[Read the article: Obama and Clinton fizzle in Philly]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Aside from all the pissing contest posts I wonder if anyone has addressed the class issue in terms of how the middle class is defined. If people are complaining about lack of differences or personality issues the one point that defines the difference between the candidates: how to define middle class. Clinton countinues this fantasy of middle class being 250K...when as Obama pointed out only 6% make more than 93K. This definition is very important and more germane to the topic than, "no new taxes" pledges. Is there some connection between the much larger percentage of Obama contributions being small and his mention of hedge funds...if I remember correctly Hilary voted against the bill that would have attempted to tax hedge fund folk....Could we get away from the pissy contest on each side and actually discuss class...I know it isn't popular around here and not as sexy.
