Please. He wasn't just VULGAR.

He was racist. I'm sick and tired of watching media figures making excuses for each other when one of them does or says something that many people rightfully object to.

The fact that Bush should be impeached and jailed for war crimes is completely irrelevant to what Imus did. Are you saying that nobody should ever suffer the consequences for anything they do that offends people as long as there is a worse offender in the White House? Please.

I'm BEYOND ready to deal with it.

IMPEACH THE BASTARD!!!!

I have never seen any particular virture in patriotism. I would just shrug if somebody accused me of being unpatriotic.

I honestly can't believe I'm reading this article in Salon.

The only reason why the chimperor hasn't been impeached is because Congress is full of craven cowards, dems and repugs alike.

Original article: Interview with Helen Thomas

Helen is irreplaceable.

She is the only REAL reporter in the White House press, the only one with the integrity and intelligence to not kowtow to BushCo in any way, whether it be swallowing their lies or yuckking it up an annual dinner the way the rest of them do. I dread the day she is no longer there to hold BushCo's feet to the fire. She seems to be the ONLY one who understands that THAT is the press's job, no more, no less.

Thank you for this interview (and for everything else you write).

This wasn't an interview.

It was a soapbox for Lieberman. I had to keep checking to see that I was still on Salon, because it felt like I was reading a simplistic mainstream media treatment of George Bush.

Original article: Did Clinton get Kos feet?

If JOURNALISTS were doing their jobs...

we wouldn't NEED bloggers. If not for bloggers, the MSM would still be shoveling stories about how great things are in Iraq without anybody questioning it!

I will never give another cent to the dem party.

Thank you for saying exactly what I'm thinking as I sit here fuming over Pelosi and Reid's latest craven spinelessness.

I guess their summer vacations meant more to them than our civil rights.

I suggest the democratic party change its name to the expedient party.

Original article: Cheerful boos for Hillary

Dennis Kucinish is right.

After the way the dems just caved into Bush, can one of the bloggers who booed Kucinich explain again just how the dems are different from the repubs?

You owe him an apology.

Original article: Lost in space

I could have written so many of these responses!

While my problem is nowhere near as severe as the author's, I have called myself spatially challenged for years. On the Myers Briggs personality test, I actually received ZERO in "thinking" on the "thinking/feeling" part of the test.

It hasn't greatly affected my life, but then, some things that most other people seem to do without even giving it a thought - such as renting a car and driving around an unfamiliar city - I could no more do than I could fly to the moon. I have never had any conception of how one measure distances by sight. ("The length of a football field" has always puzzled me.)

Since I am left-handed in a right-handed world, I have never had a problem with that particular issue (the whole WORLD is designed for right-handedness), but, as others here have mentioned, I too have always been mystified as to how one identifies north/south/east/west except on a map or when witnessing the sun rising or setting.

I can find my way around a mall eventually, but it takes many visits, and even then, I always have to enter the parking lot at the same entrance, even if the store I want is located closer to another entrance.

I once worked in an office for two years that could be accessed by two elevator banks facing each other, and, without looking, never once knew which direction to turn once I got out of the elevator.

I am also female.

Edwards' speech is the one HILLARY should be giving.

And why the Salon double standard in criticizing him for "cashing in" on Rove's comments when Hillary is doing the exact same thing?

I'll take Edwards over a corporate shill like Hillary any day. She has no courage, no vision, no soul. In many ways, she's George Bush in a skirt.

Edwards says what I need to hear from a candidate. Hillary doesn't. I can't believe any liberal would pan his impassioned plea for the common good, in favor of Hillary's triangulating, calculating, pandering.

Thursday, August 30, 2007 05:30 PM

DUH....you do know he's running for president, right?

Isn't turning on your fellow candidates what politicians DO? They draw distinctions between themselves and their rivals - seems very elementary to me. So why does Salon seem to have some kind of vendetta against Edwards for doing so?

Frankly, I'm sick of it, and find it unseemly of Salon to keep this up. While Edwards is my candidate of choice, I can understand some of the criticism leveled at him...but what I cannot understand is Salon regularly taking him to task to such an extent that it even sounds as if you are in favor of corporate lobbyists!

Get a grip, Salon! Whatever your problem with Edwards is, it's making your behavior seem incomprehensible, not his.

Last night on MSNBC Joan Walsh praised John Edwards as the "winner."

Does Salon.com's right hand not know what the left hand is doing?

In any case, your constant drum beating for Hillary is a real turn-off, especially considering that she voted for Lieberman's bill yesterday.

And I agree with all the posters here who pointed out how evasive she was last night - she seems to be incapable of ever giving a direct answer or showing any real feeling.

By contrast, Edwards did both and he remains my choice.

I'm impressed.

I saw Sen. Dodd on the The View this morning, and his unequivocal defense of habeas corpus was music to my ears. I hope he continues to speak out on this issue. It's tragic that this even is an issue...hopefully his stand will inspire the other spineless dems.
