Religious Bullshit

It seems that both sides of this debate wish to believe in what they wish to BELIEVE in. Al Gore is an asshole, that we can believe in. The petro-chemical companies are assholes, too. I just hate to see the hysteria dealt by both sides.

12 Steppers, what are ya gonna do?

The programs are rife with self-congratulary praise for shadowy accomplishments. You know what the sound of one hand clapping is? The same sonic resonance that eminates from the faux back-slapping at your neighborhood 12 Step meeting. Bullshit. Those people don't care about you, they care about nothing but themselves. If they're not doing their drug of choice, they're busilly judging those who are less fortunate. Dr. Phil and his ilk should be hung from the nearest, highest tree...

Heck

What about Joe Arpeggio? The sax playin' detective?

@ Christopher

Rod Serling's Night Gallery scared the sausages out of me when I was a wee fellow. I used to play a game with myself, promising that I wouldn't watch it but I always ended up watching the show anyway. We lived in a creaky, old farmhouse at the time. My bedroom was the attic. Wonderful!

Yep.

Well said Dog. It doesn't matter whether or not the guy was spouting truth, he was being a dick about it. We hates them types , we do!

Sorry

about my misspells... Having the stupid slapped out of me must have sumpin to do with it!

Indeed...

When I heard about the box, I told my wife thay I'd press that button in a heartbeat. She slapped me across the face. I said better them then us and realized what an animal I really am....

Yeah but...

@chris - Roger Ebert seems to have lost his edge since the cancer got him. I usually agreed with his take on the flicks until a couple of years ago (I still think that "Blue Velvet" is a masterpiece...) but his critiques have become soft and bland. When he and baldy used to set forth at least he championed the underdog. These days, not so much.

@xranadu

Yep. I took a flame on a date back in the 80's. We had a choice between "The Last Emperor" or a John Candy flick. One guess which I chose and double credit for answering who didn't get laid that night. Too much, too soon is the lesson I took away from that debacle...

Well Said Square!

Still waiting for Dr. Tongue's 3-D House of Stewardesses...

Such a non-issue

Everyone knows that human people are equally adept at writing. If there are no females on this (albeit subjective) list, maybe it's because there haven't been any stories that passed by their snouts worthy of being judged the best of the best. Maybe it was a dry year for split-tails...

Wow A.P.

Do you lick much Tarantino ball lately? Independent film is just that - Independent! Arseholes like Quentin sold his soul sometime in the 80's. My favourite flick of his? The Vampire one where he produced and kept his boring mouth shut.

@ Tedol

Yes, yes and yes! Warner Bros. could have done this in the late 40's if Disney had let them. We are left with nothing but leaves falling from skeletal trees... Please stop Zemeckis before he decides that Shakespeare or Chaucer is next up for his dead-eyed version of the classics...

Where did these recidivism stats come from, anyway?

I dunno, it just seems that anything that tweaks the general fear is liable to be sent out as truth. I know that we all watch Law and Order and Criminal Minds but are these guys as dangerous as what the media has portrayed for the last twenty years? Have these people no shame? They made mistakes and are unable/unwilling to walk the high road? I don't know, it seems to me to be a bordering on hysteria and for the best part paranoia. Who (other then T.V. and Movie writers) have decided that these people are incorrigible? Would I want one of these guys around my Grandkids? Of course not! A broad brush is a dangerous thing.

Thursday, November 5, 2009 05:59 PM

If you like paranoia, have I got the thing for you!

Of course they don't work. When in human history has any fear based idea come to any good? The general populace would rather believe that there is some "Other" to be feared and shunned rather than "Uncle Tickles". You would be hit by lightning tens of times over before your kid was snatched by a stranger. Look to thine own house, blah, blah, blah...

Original article: "Precious" mettle

Noone disputes

that Oprah does good things and donates to worthy causes. I've said it before - give 'til it hurts. What's a few grand to her? If she donates HALF of her gold then I might start thinking better of the cow... perhaps stop playing the victim card that made her a Billionaire? A school in Africa? She's got the cash to fund hundreds (maybe thousands) of schools... It pisses me off that Ms. do-no-wrong is actually doing a little bit of right and we get pulled along by the rings in our noses. A smidgen of good is generally BAD in the long run.

Thursday, November 5, 2009 04:55 PM

Wait... What?

It seems to me that "Climate Change" used to be called "Global Warming" and before that it was all about the "Ozone Layer" and "Rainforests" or some somesuch... Before that it was "Save the Whales" and... Whatever seems to work to get skeevy little know-nothings into coed's pants must be the answer. When I was a kid they said that we'd be living in an Ice Age by now and that we'd have colonists on the moon. Go figure...
