“Keynes, Thou Should’st Be Living …,”

You're not kidding are you? Ever heard of Austrian Economis?

Mises, thou should'st be living....

Tuesday, October 14, 2008 01:54 PM

Who knew?

"Paul Krugman was saying this was going to happen over a year ago."

Most, if not all, students of Austrian Economics predicted this for years. YEARS! I know their solutions aren't popular, but predict they did. Ron Paul, as early as 2003, spoke on the House floor about our dire economic future.

I'm beginning to think that economics as a course of study (and most economists in general) is a kin to what astrology is to astronomy.

RP for Fed Chairman!

Excellent idea!

His first act would be to abolish the entire Reserve. Only then could we have a Jeffersonian idea of economics and do away with the mercantilism of what we recently had, and the socialism we have now.

More Foreign Policy Experience

I'd say you have more foreign policy experience than you admit. Don't forget that California borders Mexico to the south, and even though you can't see it from your house it's closer than most states can brag. Plus, you know what the big cities are like since you live so close to Oakland and San Francisco. That's important so you can be on watch for those crazy, elite intellectuals.

Well done!

Glenn continues to document the absurdity of our MSM. A book I'm reading and finding quite good is Mike Gravel's, THE KINGMAKERS (how the media threatens our security and our democracy). It's new and worth reading, for most. The book may not have any earth shattering new news, but it's a good reminder of the craven media base we have in America and discusses how America used the Georgia/Russia conflict to further Bush’s agenda.

Keep up the terrific work, Glenn. I follow your work daily, through out the day!

Thank you, Levy and Dirks!

As I was reading through this comment section I was hoping I wouldn't the first to set the record straight on this quote:

"When the commander in chief orders Americans to die for their country, there is no real check-and-balance. That authority is constitutionally protected. When we choose a president, we give one person almost unbridled military power. Short of impeachment, there's not a lot we can do to take it back. That's why even in hugely unpopular wars, presidents are able to exercise powers unimaginable elsewhere in government."

Apparently there are other readers who think similarly and that's frightening. How can someone can read the Constitution and come away thinking and believing the opposite of what it states?!

You two wrote what I was thinking, but no doubt more eloquently....

Disappointed

From Zeroworker:

"But isn't it interesting that MD failed to mentions Clinton's air campaign against Serbia and Kosovo? And his bombing of Iraq? And his bombing of the pharmaceutical plant in Sudan?"

It's not that I blame Glenn for not pointing out Clinton's illegal and immoral wars (at least many of them), but I am very disappointed. I wouldn't expect Ms. Dowd to even be aware of Clinton's horrific deeds, but I would expect Glenn to point out what she so obviously missed.

As far as I can tell, only "something stinks" seems to agree with "zeroworker" as nobody else has commented.

I fear that Obama will get the passes that Clinton has.

Apologize and shake hands....

Is she kidding? Is this Joe a little school boy who deliberately kicked dirt in the face of his friend and now he's being made to offer up an insincere apology? We're supposed to accept that like a dutiful teacher?

Give me a break. Joe Lieberman has supported Bush on every major pro-war policy. Lieberman's nothing but a wolf in sheep's clothing, and I, for one, can clearly see the sharp teeth.

Dump him!

@DrEyeBall

"You have to face it: a too-big segment of our population will simply have no idea of what you are talking about."

Perhaps the Palin voters are ignorant, but the informed democrats and Obama worshipers will act like the Palin voters. They'll all agree with the DC Establishment that it's more important to be "bipartisan" and to "lead from the center", than it is to care enough about the Constitution and the rule of law to investigate the Bush crimes.

Kitt

"I don't know what an "Obama worshiper" is but I know of that great numbers of "informed Democrats" who are all in favor of stripping Lieberman of his chair, and they don't want to "lead from the center" either."

I was merely pointing out that it's not only the Palin supporters who will not want to bring Bush to justice or even care much about the subject. I never mentioned Lieberman. An "Obama worshiper" is like almost all worshipers - those who only see the positive and not the negative in who/what they exalt. Probably those that actually ask themselves, "What would Obama do" fit the description, as well as others not quite so devoted.

I believe a lot of well-informed people who voted for Obama are going to be balking at the idea of Bush being accountable for his crimes. And not caring enough about the Constitution and the rule of law will be one of the unvoiced reasons. These same people may even admit that it's more important for Obama to "lead from the center" so he can get things accomplished.

I find this more than a little disturbing.
