Years ago I picked up a compilation of chocolate recipes from some charity in Oakland. Then Representative Ron Dellums had submitted one that looked familiar: turned out it was word for word from the Joy of Cooking. When you think about it, tho', it is pretty bizarre to imagine that public figures are spending their free time in the kitchen whipping up original recipes. The real scandal is the wholesale theft and plagiarism that happens in every newspaper and magazine food section, but that's a whole nuther story.
Honey, they be gone.
Carole, I hope you're not the mother of teenagers, cuz if you thought *this* is what was happening:
"a pair of skinny teenagers dressing and undressing in front of a mirror, watching a clock count down the seconds till the guy arrives at the girl's house so that they can have sex in the basement"
you totally misread what was happening. Obviously they are practicing putting on their clothes extremely quickly--like for when Mom knocks at the basement door and calls out "What's going on down there?"
I think Josh Marshall's "Bitch Slap theory of politics" applies here: McCain's trotting out Day to see if he can get away with it.

Oh boo hoo! "an almost completely co-opted media climate that seems hellbent on ignoring them?" Just search the NYT for Code Pink, and you'll find that Media Benjamin is the public face of the peace movement. My personal theory is that she and her clownish followers are still trying to expiate their guilt for being Cheerleaders for Nader in 2000, throwing the election to Bush, and plunging us into Iraq. A couple thousand more lifetimes to accomplish that, in my opinion.
I don't like the guy any more than anyone else around here, but what if we need him to forestall a filibuster? I'd like to see a discussion of exactly what Lieberman's role might be in such a case.
Code Pink has long ceased to be about anything other than self promotion. I already thought Barney Frank was a national treasure, but now that he's called out the Pink Buffoons my admiration knows no bounds.
Much of the initial coverage about Fort Hood turned out to be wrong. Is there anything wrong with that?
The accountability imposed by another country for the CIA's kidnapping and torture reveals much about our own.
