Original article: Quote of the day

As an Arizona native who now lives in Connecticut...

I must say that I dislike both McCain and Lieberman, and it has nothing to do with me disagreeing with them on an issue or two--I consider them both to be terrible human beings devoid of any redeeming qualities. Well, actually, that was a bit harsh. I think McCain has a poor temperament for the presidency and is a person with whom I disagree on many issues. And Lieberman...well, hmmm, you know, he's just a terrible human being without redeeming qualities.

That's sad news

I was hoping that there would still be a Democrat running by November, and not a Lieberman/Bush supporting, establishment shill like Hillary. I am so sickened by Republican rule, that I'd rather see the Democratic Party torn asunder than further "leadership" from the Harry Reid/Joe Lieberman wing of the party.

Well, Anonymous, you may need some of us Hillary haters in the general election.

I was a lifelong Democrat, and protested Bush's 2001 Inauguration and the 2004 Republican Convention. I defended the Clintons throughout the 90s. However, in the past several years, I have come to despise Hillary Clinton, and the cowardly, establishment politics that define her. I think little of her integrity, character, and ability to lead. While I admit to this evidence being anecdotal, I have a fair number of coworkers and friends who desperately want to vote for any of the Democrats not named "Clinton." I certainly do not want to see a President Huckabee or Giuliani, but as of this moment, I will NOT vote for Clinton either.

If Hillary should win the nomination

I would not vote for her in the general election, and would almost welcome a Republican victory if it would deliver a death blow to the Democratic National Committee's corrupt, anti-democratic establishment politics. This primary is a farce.

From an eHarmony male who has "not clean" as one of his "Can't Stands"

It appears that I'm the enemy, being a male eHarmony subscriber, and having "Poor Hygiene...I can't stand someone who is not clean" in my list of "Can't Stands." Honestly, I think you're reading too much into it. I spent all of 30 seconds selecting my "Must Haves" and "Can't Stands" from the list of generic choices that eHarmony provides. It's not as if we all had cleanliness on our minds; I came across that sentence during step 207 of their grueling registration process, and clicked it on a whim. I saw the word "hygiene", and thought to myself, "yeah, yeah, hygiene is good. I'd probably not want to be around anyone, male or female, who never brushed his/her teeth." And that is all the thought I put into it. Gender politics, promiscuity, etc. were not even considerations.

I think this is the least revealing step of the eHarmony matching process, and I have never made any decisions based on a woman's "Can't Stands" section. I confess to sometimes not reading them at all, and skipping to the next phase.

Isn't George H.W. Bush still waiting for that moment?

For once Fox was right

Hillary and Bill are amazingly partisan. They enthusiastically campaigned for Joe Lieberman in the 2006 Democratic Primary, despite the fact that Lieberman's a cheerleader for the type of foreign policy they claim to oppose. Heck, Lieberman was even a prominent voice in denouncing Bill Clinton during the Lewinsky scandal. If blind party loyalty isn't bringing these people together, I don't know what is. If, come general election, Hillary is on the ballot, this former Democrat will submit a blank ballot.

Well, it's median, not mean so the numbers could work.

The numbers would work if there are seven, super promiscuous women out there who are each having sex with every single American man. Since we are talking median here, and there are millions of American women, these seven super sluts would have no discernible impact on the median number of partners for women. Though, if this is indeed what's happening, I'd think the rates of STD's would be higher.

We should send Jack Bauer after this guy.

Why is everyone freaking out?

I've managed to remain completely oblivious to what occurs in the first book of the series, and it has been readily available for ten years now. But please don't tell me what happens in any of the books! My plan is to wait for all seven movies to come out, and then to watch them back to back to back for the first time on DVD. I will experience seven times the surprise and discovery that the rest of you will!

Apologies from CT

As a CT resident, I'm truly sorry for this snake that our electorate has unleashed on the world. Though I voted against Lieberman in both the primary and the general election, I suppose I should have done more. My punishment is that I have to live in Lieberman's hometown, brushing shoulders daily with the people who were willing to stoop so low to find his name and fabricated political party at the bottom of the ballot.

Original article: I Like to Watch

"Too Much Confusion Here"

I agree completely with Heather's review of "Battlestar Galactica." I'm a latecomer to the series--and only a sporadic viewer at that--but it seems that every time this show pulls me in with its complicated characters and provacative themes, they somehow manage to repel me by loading on the hokey, surrealistic dream sequences. What I find particularly disappointing is how quickly this pattern asserted itself in last night's episode. Not moments after being captivated by the conclusion of the Baltar trial, an amazing plot thread that had me actually rooting for Baltar against last season's "heroes," I found myself being bombarded with that clumsy ode to Dylan/Hendrix. And I'm even a fan of "All Along the Watchtower," having Dylan's and three other covers of it in my music collection. Heather hit the nail on the head; the spoken word Shatner-esque rendition by the cast of Battlestar was definitely something I'd expect from a high school stoner guy. I was so distracted by this musical anachronism that the episode's final plot twist had no impact on me.
