Interesting and thoughtful article. Many of the responses illustrate (prove?) Ms. Paglia's point. While I steadfastly disagree with her political, religious, and sociological positions, she is dead on with this one. Those of you who hate the Right (by the way, it is called the "Right" for good reason) cannot seem to disagree with your opponents without rancor or PPD (politics of personal destruction). You cannot refute Ms Paglia, so you try to demean her. Camille doesn't hate us, she just wants to beat us, in a civilized, cosmopolitan way. Take a lesson.
Mr. Kamiya, This race has always been a personality contest. Obama has no demonstrated command of issues. He is a fairly good (not great) speaker with an admittedly pleasing personality. Nothing else. No experience, no workable plans. Why can't we Republicans reply in kind with a good speaker with a good personality (oh, and a nice rack)? Also, with some actual governing experience and a proven record as a reformer (not a pose) thrown in. She can dominate me any time! At least she would probably respect me in the morning.
I am still not convinced that Camille is a Liberal or a Democrat. Except for her completely irrational support for Obama, her atheism, and a few other niggling differences, she thinks like me, a die-hard conservative, WalMart shopper, and Sarah Palin fan.
