When I read the NY Times this morning, my attention was drawn to their visual account of the birdshot spread on Harry. Their diagram showed a very tight pattern that immediately made me believe that the blast came from close range. This paper demonstration seems to indicate that the shooter was considerably closer than 30 yards.
Impeach Cheney First!
Ever since the election, Farhad Manjoo has been the worst of the commentators. Republicans gleefully use him to provide cover to dismiss all of the flaws of the 2004 elction. He reminds me of the great pholosophers who shreik, "who you going to believe, me or your own stinkin eyes?"
Fortunately Robert Kennedy has done the country a great service by collecting all of the evidence into one comprehensive package. Too bad that SALON prefers an apologist instead.
The great Jonathan Richman has a song called "Walter Johnson" that details the career of the Washington Senator's pitching legend. "Now all through baseball he was loved and respected"
Complete lyrics may be found here: http://www.lyricstime.com/jonathan-richman-walter-johnson-lyrics.html In concert, Richman does the song a cappella and acts out the pitching motions.
Actually that is exactly what it means, Salon is getting worse, and each one of you associated with it knows that is a fact. Your column's demise is just the latest dirt on top of the grave.
I am glad you are kicking around big ideas. Now, here is a basic point. Readers buy newspapers or come to web sites in order to read their favorite writers. The biggest mistake my local papers made was to start laying off columnists. Soon there was no reason to purchase the product.
Salon has spiraled into mediocrity in a similar manner. Your column was a big reason I checked in every day. Without you writing, I am less inclined to visit Salon. You may be a fine editor and have great ideas, and that is essentially meaningless to this reader. I only care about you, and Salon, if you write.
