...those are British men.
Nobody is making them do anything; if they are becoming "waxed and coiffed metrosexuals", its because they choose to go along with it, social pressure notwithstanding. They can be just as cultured - or not - as they choose.
Like everyone else.
Oh, seagull-poop.
Guys who want formulae and rules are missing the point as much as are women who set arbitrary expectations on dates; the point of a date is to see if two people are mutually in-sync. So, guys - listen up. Be courteous to EVERYONE - men, women, dogs, Republicans, whether you are dating them or not. Anything else beyond courtesy is negotiable! Well, you're really comparing apples and oranges, regarding the San Diego Comic Con, which is slowly being taken over by Hollywood interests. Nothing bad there, but as the "Twilight" fans are
In geek fandom (I've got over 30 years in the trenches), there have long been overlapping sub-divisions - comics geeks, anime geeks, literature geeks, media geeks (of various flavors, from Trek to BSG to Buffy and beyond). Non-comic Geek culture, in general, is much more gender-balanced, and don't really bat an eye at Harry Potter and Twilight fans (both of which are dominated by very young, female fans).

So... how many slots should have been reserved for women? Some? All? None? Literary tastes and opinions vary, clearly - but I would have thought that altering their choices to include at least one woman author would be more condescending and insulting.
Much of the initial coverage about Fort Hood turned out to be wrong. Is there anything wrong with that?
The accountability imposed by another country for the CIA's kidnapping and torture reveals much about our own.
