I cannot find. So, let us take as a given the beliefs that seem most mainstream, that foie gras is tasty and that foie gras is mean, or at the least, rude to the fowl. Do you think that society should be prescriptive when it comes to behavior? Do you like the food pyramid and H.O.V. lanes? Then we should ban the consumption of foie gras. We can carry this to a straw-man extreme and disallow all unhealthy foods but this is disingenuous. Do you think that society should strive to do no more than protect the safety and right to own property of the individual? Do you like lower taxes and a police force that is more friendly? Then we should allow people to consume foie gras if they desire and can purchase it. This position can be carried to another extreme wherein all schools are run by Churches and pollution is entirely unregulated, but this is also an incorrect representation of the views of libertarianism. Oh well, "a zealot is someone who won't change their mind and refuses to change the subject."
This was a very clear and interesting article about a topic that doesn’t get enough fresh air. More please.
