Extended fit of pique
[Read the article: At her majesty's pleasure]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I'm sure you chose to publish this for some reason, but I fail to discern a good one. If readers were unaware that foreign law applies on foreign soil (or extensions thereof), then they are so ignorant as to be unfit for travel—or their sense of entitlement assures them that they need not bother learning such rules, since they don't apply to them.
If one drinks while taking medications which contraindicate doing so, then one has made a foolish decision. Prisons worldwide are populated by those who would give anything to take back the events unfurled by their decision to drink or drug, regardless of the amount consumed. The writer's subsequent behavior is not excused; he made the choice.
His petty protest that certain laws weren't enforced prior to political events only further illustrates his immaturity. Sometimes the speed traps are there, buddy, sometimes they aren't.
Although the shortcomings in the British legal and corrections systems may exist, the writer's essay boils down to "This shouldn't haven happened to me because I am educated." No sympathy, here.
I hope the flight attendants somehow see this story. Perhaps they are the intended audience.

Democrat opposed to Clinton candidacy
[Read the article: How Hillary could tank]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Hillary Clinton is a terrible candidate. A staunch Democrat, I have protested her candidacy in writing to her site and offices well before she actually declared. No wonder Rove, et.al. are so eager to promote a run against her. Her negatives will guarantee a Republican victory.
As a woman, I particularly resent her framing those against her candidacy as being reluctant to vote for a female. No, I'm not opposed to a woman candidate; I'm opposed to you. I would like a Democratic candidate who actually thinks, talks, and acts as a Democrat, and not as the DLC-accomodationist tool that she is.
I don't think this "coronation" is coming from the roots of the party. She's not coasting on $20 donations, but on contributions from those who welcome the corporate-welfare status quo.

Shame on Clinton Campaign
[Read the article: "Boys against girl," Part II]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Shame on the Clinton campaign. I am a female, life-long Democratic Party voter, and I detest her candidacy for the big-business, accomodationist, DLC-supported nightmare it is. I resent her deciding that I should support her because we both are female.

Female Democrat Against Clinton Candidacy
[Read the article: Hillary Clinton can take it]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I resent the implication that I should support Clinton because we both are female. Her candidacy does not represent a step forward, but a comfy resettlement into big-business, accomodationist, DLC-moneyed business as usual.
I support John Edwards, who actually speaks like a Democrat.
