Democracy — only when it favors Obama — is not Democracy

I couldn't agree more regarding the will of the people and the popular vote. So where is the outcry to reinstate the Florida and Michigan delegates? Why shouldn't the votes of those citizens count? Where's the MoveOn petition?

There's no outcry because those states went to Hillary.

Michigan and Florida are being punished. (This in and of itself could give rise to another post.) But who really is being punished? The voters in those states, that's who. Two entire states have been thrown out and the votes of their residents cast aside. This is Democracy?

I can only imagine the hysteria if BO had taken those states. The Voice of the People ISN'T BEING HEARD! Instead everyone's got their knickers in a twist because the superdelegates may — may — favor HRC.

DP rules are DP rules. Let the votes cast in FLA and MI count, or leave the superdelegate issue alone.

Original article: A supersize controversy

I love Joan Walsh

Maybe she should be president. Nah, she's probably too smart for that.

Finally someone to just say settle down, people, these are the rules as set up and approved by the Democratic Party to which you all belong, like 'em or not.

And she slammed those MoveOn.org bozos with their nonsense petition on top of it. Love it.

By virtue of the very fact that they are superdelegates, they are in no way obligated to vote for the most popular candidate. They will vote for who they think will be best for the party or probably, as someone else here put it, what's best for themselves.

Ah, honesty. Take a look candidates. THAT'S what it sounds like.

Or…

Could it be that PSD was hired because she's Hispanic? Does anyone know what Bill Richardson is up to?

picayune, but…

Obama is not HALF African-American. He's half African.

It takes two, people!

I'd like to know when the stigma, rightful or otherwise, is going to be applied to the impregnators, teens or otherwise.

Ha ha ha

Let's all laugh at PETA. Like it's so very funny that one might actually consider the value of an animal's life with respect to a human's. We are SO. VERY. SPECIAL. For christ's sake, the pig DIES.

Ever consider education? Teaching them to value their daughters? Frankly, I'd sell the male kids. They probably eat more.

Palin's speech did it for me

I went on line first thing this morning and donated to Obama/Biden.

Thank you Sarah, for reminding me what matters.

Original article: Sarah Palin's choice

May be the rumors are true

This is a sad, sick situation no matter what the truth is, perhaps saddest for poor Trig. He's facing a hard road ahead, perhaps one which, if it was scientifically possible to have asked him, he would not have chosen.

Original article: Sarah Palin's choice

Palin is not a hypocrite when it comes to Choice

People are seizing on semantics. Yes, she said to the media "it's her choice" referring to Bristol's decision to have a baby out of wedlock at age 17. But come on, folks: With what we have learned about Sarah Palin in the last few days, can you seriously envision Mama and Papa Palin sitting her down at the kitchen table and saying "Bristol honey, what do YOU want to do?"

Please. Bristol Palin had no choice, which is just the way Sarah Palin wants it.

No, Palin's hypocrisy can be found in her support of absinence-only teaching. That clearly didn't work!

Get rid of it!

Finally!

Finally some other people calling for more parties besides these two tired old ones. Too often (in fact, every election) reasonable men and women abandon their ideas and principles to toe their party's line. To wit: Reagan passed some of the most sweeping pro-choice law as governor of California, only to spew pro-life platitudes on the campaign trail for president.

I've been a registered Independent my entire life because I didn't want to be labeled as Democrat or Republican. I didn't want to be told what I should or should not support. I wanted to think for myself. I supported Hillary Clinton (but as an Independent could not vote in my state's primaries — something that requires an entirely new discussion itself!)

And now this Independent is voting for Obama because as Gary Kamiya so clearly lays out the choice — albeit only between two people — is pretty clear.

Hear hear

Finally someone puts into writing two (unrelated) things I spout every day:

The first is topical

1. We want a leader in the White House, not a buddy. (And to that may I add preferably well-educated)

The second applies always

2. It is time, nay, long overdue, to include fathers vis-à-vis children in any discussion of voting blocs, politicians, or employed persons. They raise their children too.

Original article: First lady got back

Back or no back

Am I the only person in the world who doesn't find Michelle Obama attractive? I'm embarrassed even writing that because it's catty, trivial and doesn't matter. And yet I felt I had to say it. Hmmm.

I'm far more impressed by her smarts and her skills and her accomplishments and hope she contributes more during their tenure in the White House than being First Mommy.

The only person she needs to be beautiful for is Barack. And I bet she's got that one sewn up.

having it all

It's flippin' easy to "have it all" when you have lots of money, and so does your husband.

She's not doing anything impressive. Just spending more.
