Victimology

The GOP is going to pound, pound, pound this issue into the ground. Every single, even marginally critical thing said about Palin is going to be the result of "sexist media," thereby delegitemizing absolutely all critcism, no matter how legit, and turning her into the poster child for victimhood. Votes will be gained solely on sympathy alone. It's cynical and crass.

The funny thing is that a certain democratic primary candidate and many on this site pioneered this concept. The GOP is just picking up the ball and running with it to a more effective degree.

Stupid

Stupid article. Stupid picture. Stupid. Stupid.

WTF? This place has sunk pretty low during this presidential cycle. For every nugget of decent analysis there is a load of tripe.

MSM starting to catch on

Keep up the drumbeat people. If the main selling point can be shown to be a complete lie, it seriously damages the McCain campaign.

Change

"You've talked about change in terms of lobbying and ethics. That concerns how policy is made, not policy itself. What are the specific policies of George W. Bush that you will reverse?"

"I do support contraception if it is a form which is not abortifacient."

A lot of these anti-choice extremists think that birth control pills are abortifacients. Someone should flat out ask her if she wants to ban the pill.

Deja Vu

Disregarding science that doesn't fit within your own nice little preconceived box. Where have I heard that before?

The first question of any interview of McCain or Palin should be:

"You've talked about change in terms of lobbying and ethics. That concerns how policy is made, not a policy unto itself. What are the policies of George W. Bush that you will reverse?"

Original article: The Sarah Palin money bomb

He can, it just has to go to the RNC which can spend it on his behalf.

It's almost like McCain's one supposedly big public policy accomplishment has almost no effect wahtsoever. Say it isn't so!

Well

His analysis is so spot on, and also unsurprisingly so even tempered, that it will be completely ignored.

I don't care who you are

You're living on a planet of people who aren't bound and determined to see nothing good in a Republican and nothing bad in a Democrat.

Ronald Reagan? Are you serious? I thought Reagan was rather laughable from a policy standpoint, but the guy could bring it in a speech. This wasn't in the same ballpark. It wasn't even in the same league. Heck, it wasn't even the same sport.

(with apologies to QT)

Ironic

Does no one else see the absurd irony of a party that has harped on Obama being nothing but speeches now proclaiming Palin as the greatest thing since Ronald Reagan based upon one speech she had basically nothing to do with writing?

McCain's own campaign admitted that it had to rewrite the speech to be less "masculine" which shows that besides the bureaucracy it was basically already in the can.

Good god

The Associated Press "analysts" are stating that it was a "star-turning performance" that was "reminiscent of Ronald Regan."

1992 Nero Redux

The GOP plays the fiddle of nastiness while the American economy burns. Completely tone-deaf to what is happening out here in the real universe.

Poor Goose

You see, John "Maverick" McCain didn't need another Maverick as his co-pilot. He needed a Goose. You know, a slightly boring but solid person to sit in the back seat and point stuff out to the Maverick to shoot down. Now we have two Mavericks in the cockpit trying to yaw that stick in different directions and its putting the campaign into a flat spin.

At this pint Mavrick McCain definitely isn't buzzing the tower and has already managed to eject his reel right into the canpoy.

Keep on that highway to the danger zone Maverick!

If Roger Ailes "reported" the sky was blue...

I'd have to go outside and check. The guy has no integrity whatsoever. Obama believing anything this guy says is very risky. Him accusing any network of being "in the tank" for a candidate is irony of the highest order.

However, if Murdock is good at one thing, it is seeing where his bread is buttered and backing a winning horse so that the gravy keeps flowing. If they see the writing on the wall, I could see them at least toning it down a bit.

I question the necessity though. Fox News rating are down and has a small audience anyways and one that Obama is unlikely to penetrate. Seems like a no-win situation to me.

And the truth is revealed

Per WaPo:

"This election is not about issues" -Rick Davis, McCain Campaign Manager.

It's rare for them to flat out state such things although I seriously weep when I see what has become of our political process. Way to go GOP.

Why not marry now? Health Insurance?

Probably. Don't parental policies (in this case provided by the taxpayers of Alaska) only include unmarried minors?

Monday, September 1, 2008 04:00 PM

And in contrast...

Obama's email requesting donations simply goes to the American Red Cross website.

You stay classy Republicans.

Timing

It is also no accident that this was released in the middle of a hurricane. The stated excuse of "dispelling rumors" is nonsense. They wanted this shot into a media black hole.

Monday, September 1, 2008 09:39 AM

The Spin

The spin will obviously be that this is a "private matter" and that any discussion of it will be "attacking a 17 year old girl." Never mind that it shows this woman can't even instill her avowed "values" that she wants to inflict on the country into her own family. The media will of course go along and only report on how nasty those mean Democrats are being even mentioning such a thing.
