OT Sorry

Along with making Salon almost unreadable

to me the new redesign has blown up my "all letters on one page script".

Does anyone know of an update to this script?

Thanks.

@ Trainman

Although you believe that the manned flights to the moon were a waste of money and resources, I would like to remind you that the race to the moon was responsible for many scientific and engineering breakthroughs which have changed our lives for the better.

A small list of these can be found at the links below.

Meredith doesn't want to give up any of her cash so you slackers and losers can get health care.

It appears that Meredith received her list of talking points from the insurance industry while preparing for that interview.

My kids thought I was losing it as I screamed at my monitor loudly and often as I watched that piece of crap.

Unfortunately, I'll probably have to listen to all those talking points repeated verbatim while chatting with the Sarah P loving mothers at hockey practice tonight.

@furtail

America is a shit-hole

There is NOT going to be a public option. Americans are too stupid to know what is good for them. They are like slobbering idiots watching the tube, run by capitalist big businesses, who are brainwashed.

They will have to lose everything in order to learn a lesson.

Dumbasses. I fucking hate the dumbass American voter. Uneducated, ignorant, flag-waving idiot.

-- furtail

Not exactly how I would state it but I do agree with the gist of your post. I am constantly overwhelmed by the American voters ability to work against their own self interest.

Filibuster Away!

Make them filibuster. Make them do it every time the GOP wants to block important legislation. Make the D's look strong for a change.

Most people dont follow politics as closely as we who read this and other political blogs.

This will get it out to the people in the heartland and show op the GOP for the soul less sphincters that they are.

Get a hold of the BBC original. it was so much better than the Americanized version of LOM

Original article: His life as a dog

violence?

Pitbulls arent bred for "violence" - if they are bred for anything it is to fight other dogs - thats it....Bruno wasnt fighting destiny or breeding by being a good companion - that WAS his destiny - loyalty, perseverence and love of humans are all there "destiny".

I agree wholeheartedly. I have owned or been around pitbulls most of my life and I have never had one of my dogs attack a person or even other animals.

In fact my mother in law, who has been deathly afraid of dogs her entire life, has no problem having my pit bull lie at her feet.

She will not let any other dog within 15 feet of her.

Stupid Indeed

It's really incredible how effectively our education system makes people stupid.

That's how they want you and why money for education is always on the chopping block. Reagan eliminated the teaching of civics so now the average American has little or no idea of the workings of their government

Who's Next

I wonder which republican Obama will find to replace Daschle.

I hope that you are right.

@ FredRated

Just wait until

"Bush You!" becomes an epithet/obscenity. After that it will be a long time before another Bush becomes president.

Too late! When I lived in Jamaica in the early 80's. "Reagan" and "Bush" were used as obscenities by the locals.

It Does't Work Like That.

Barbara, a huge Palin fan, said that "any woman who can manage a state, five children, and the housework, can manage a country.

Every time I hear this I just want to scream.

Stupid hurts.

Critical Thinking

We have human brains for a reason -- to USE and THINK FOR OURSELVES. Let's all take advantage of those critical thinking skills we spend years instilling in our children in school.

One of the problems is critical thinking is not stressed as much as it once was in our public education system.

The elimination of the teaching of civics classes (begun in the time of St.Ronald) guarantees that our kids leave school pretty much unaware of the intricacies of our government.

Add to that the brainwashing through repetition by Fox, Rush, Hannity, Savage, Beck etc and it's not surprising how we get the government we have.

@richhein

I second the previous message. If your cellphone can make movies and you get a flipper, film it and put it onto utube. It will cause a sensation. Try to include in your movie the poll worker who tries to tell you that everything is just perfect.

I'm a poll worker and believe me in my ward they will not be told that everything is perfect. We will be on the phone in a heartbeat.

LifeOnMars

If you were a fan of the BBC version, skip this one. There is none of the subtlety of the original and they have dumbed it down for the American audience.

For those interested, BBC had a sequel to Life on Mars called Ashes to Ashes. Set in the 80's all of the originals return except Sam Tyler and Annie. Not quite as good as LOM, but worth watching.

In case of emergency

They aren't worried about Palin having to run the country. The people lurking in the shadows who run the country now, will have no problems running it with her at the helm.

Unbelievable

It's just more of the same old, same old.

1 to 3 Supreme Court Justices

Cmon, Obama thought Roberts was just fine until he was told about the negative political implications of a yea vote.

So I don't have a lot of confidence in his judgment on this issue.

So no universal health care, grumblings about social security privatization being on the table and an inclination to favor conservative judges. Progressive???

Maybe I need a speech!
