Is this a fair, independent article?
[Read the article: Ralph Nader loves John McCain]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]It seems unfair - rather, dishonest - to point to Nader as being the head of a grand conspiracy to elect a republican who has recently taken to back peddling on every moderate and progressive position he's ever held.
Even more unfair is the notion that Ralph Nader's run for the presidency in 2000 was "disastrous". It wasn't. He didn't cost Al Gore the election, our constitutional process (which insures that the state is protected from the popular vote), and the supreme court (and dare it be mentioned: Gore's loss in TN) cost Al Gore the electoral majority he needed to win in 2000.
Why does Salon, or anyone for that matter feel that our process, or our country, is improved by limiting the opportunity of anyone but the 2 major parties from launching a successful National campaign? And if Democrats are so worried that Nader's voters are going to cost them the election, why don't they just throw in with Nader? I'll tell you why: because this whole notion of Nader as spoiler is BS.

It's not just McCain Signs
[Read the article: Who spray-painted anti-McCain smears in Northern Virginia?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I live in Northern Virginia. There are signs posted from Fairfax to Tysons Corner (where I work) for both parties, and the most common cases of defacement are Obama/Biden posters and signs.
The most prominent is on Chainbridge Rd heading in to Oakton, where twice a week an Obama sign has been put up and Vandalized to say "Danger Socialist" while a McCain sign not 10 yards away has gone untouched.
I'm a republican, and after Ashley Todd - it's hard for me to not question whether or not this is just another ploy to play up McCain being a victim.

Federal Election Laws
[Read the article: Are young voters flaking out again?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]In states like Virginia, there are laws on the books regarding the restriction of absentee voting for first-time voters. If someone just turned 18, they can't legally vote via absentee (even with a reason).
Is it possible this is one of the reasons the youth vote isn't up? What if they did send in their ballots, but aren't being counted due to such laws?

I don't see it, either.
[Read the article: Does McCain have a path to the presidency?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]What polls show "tightening" in PA? And by tightening are we talking actual points, or just the occasional shift?
PA is probably safe Obama, and VA is shockingly close to be safe Obama. The only question is whether or not Hampton Roads delivers the turnout.

NAFTA. Not NATO.
[Read the article: Let the recriminations begin]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Hey - a quick correction, your post says she didn't know which countries were in NATO.
Actually she didn't know which countries were in NAFTA - which is far more egregious considering there are only 3 to my knowledge: America, Canada, and Mexico.
