We get it. You're completely unable to defend the bullshit rhetoric being used by the US military/media to hype a war against Iran that will have the exact same legitimacy as the "mushroom could" threat posed to the United States by Saddam Hussein, and anyone who argues that we shouldn't murder hundreds of thousands, possibly millions, of innocent Iranians is an anti-Semite. Great argument! If you can't debate people honestly, demonize them with baseless, bullshit arguments that they're all anti-Semites who want to kill all the Israelis.
Apparently, to you the lesson of the holocaust is that it's only bad to burn to death millions of ONE group of people, not ALL.
Here is a brain-twister for you - Imagine the Iranian people feel pain exactly the same as Jewish people, that burning them to death with missiles would be exactly the same as burning to death Jews, and if millions of innocent Iranians are nuked to death that would be a modern-day holocaust.
The average Iranian has the exact same sway with their government that Jews in 1930's Germany had with their government.
Lastly, nuking Iran all but ensures the destruction of Israel. Have you considered that or is that too obvious?
Now, accuse me of being anti-Semitic since you're incapable of arguing any other way.
Here is what Barack Obama said in his first presidential debate on September 26:
"..a resurgent and very aggressive Russia is a threat to the peace and stability of the region.
Their actions in Georgia were unacceptable.. They have to remove themselves from South Ossetia and Abkhazia. It is absolutely important that we have a unified alliance, and that we explain to the Russians that you cannot be a 21st-century superpower or power and act like a 20th-century dictatorship. And we also have to affirm all the fledgling democracies in that region… the Estonians, the Lithuanians, the Latvians, the Poles, the Czechs -- that we are, in fact, going to be supportive and in solidarity with them in their efforts. They are members of NATO."
If we can continue to have recreational wars of choice to justify a bloated defense budget (which proved on 9.11 to be as outdated as the Spanish Armada in fighting 21st century threats), it's beyond disingenuous to say we can't guarantee healthcare for all Americans.
"Health care and retirement are things one can do for oneself, and absent abject poverty, that's how it should work, IMHO."-- wgsalter
You don't think that people are currently being forced into "abject poverty" and in many cases being forced to DIE because there are no safeguards against the current healthcare industry greed and avarice supported by the right? How are they being protected, IYHO?
If someone's house is on fire, we don't say, "Get your own damn water to put out the fire! Don't expect some socialist "Fire Department" to put it out!" Or if you're robbed, we don't say, "Pull yourself up by your boot straps and get your money back yourself! A "Police Department" would be socialism gone mad"! Yet, if Americans are faced with a serious, life-altering health conditions and can't afford health insurance - even if it means their deaths - the prevailing opinion on the "patriotic right" is that Americans should FUCKING DIE! The healthcare industry & big business matter - the America people don't. How much clearer can it be that Republicans (and blue-dog Democrats) are openly proud to say "FUCK YOU" to the American people?
The idea that big business can literally play god (death panels) and decide who will receive healthcare assistance and who won't is barbaric. And only in bizarro world would those who want to ensure healthcare for all be considered evil.
The very idea that terms like "pre-existing condition" aren't seen as draconian shows how far we've gone down the morally bankrupt path of big business rule and judeo-christian conservatism in this country.
But recreational wars, like recreational drugs, are fine, and no matter how much it costs, no matter how many people die, and no matter how much devastation it causes, there's ALWAYS trillions on hand for that optional, uneccesary expense. Wars have become nothing more than entertainment for the overly affluent and low-life wannabes who watch FOX. And just like a junkie, no amount of debt or destruction will get them to kick their habit... But ensuring healthcare is bad.
"Why are young women "drawn to" these older guys? That seems to me the real question."-- marik77
Why are women attracted to millionaires? Does that question really baffle you?
"I looked at him. He seemed eager."
Like a 5 year old looking at a 4 year old after asking, "Would you like a Hurtz Donut?"
The entire rightwing have become nothing but mouth-breathing, empty-headed buffoons. Is it any wonder Osama Bin Laden waited until Republicans were in power to strike?
It may be important to explore every last detail of a point being made, but it puts me to sleep.
Who the fuck cares?
Why do people with the attention span of a gnat feel compelled to tell the world about it - while whoring their blog at the same time?
Try the MTV forum. It's more your (limited) speed.
"Not all birthers are the same and the left would do well not to get too pleased with itself thinking it can deal easily with the more loopy of the genre, because it still leaves the stronger ones out there"-- LondonLad
You genuinely believe there are serious, balanced, truth-seeking, "birthers" out there earnestly looking for empirical evidence to support whether Barack Obama is, in fact, an American citizen – and when they find that one elusive record, that one piece of incontrovertible evidence, they will candidly admit that, yes, Barrack Hussein Obama is an American citizen? You believe that? Well, until I see some evidence to back that up (and not zeroxed records, but genuine proof), it would be irrational to believe something that self-evidently false is true.
