"I don't know all the facts, but I do know that cops have a very very difficult job."
So what? It's not like they were born with some ‘police handicap’ and are dealing with it admirably. If they don't have the mental acuity or the emotional maturity needed for the job (and God knows way too many don’t) then they shouldn't have the job – period. Do we say, "Sure surgeons commit a lot of malpractice. It's a very very difficult job!" Of course not.
One the staunchest anti-cop people I know is himself a police captain. Nothing gets him pissed off more than when he sees cops abusing their power. You don't have to travel far in the NJ/PA/NY area to see such behavior from police.
The same people who take for granted that most politicians, both in local & state politics, are basically corrupt, will turn on a dime to defend the cops when accused of the same routine corruption -- even though (unlike politicians) they SEE cops every day blowing through traffic lights because they feel like it, or speeding because no one can do anything about it, or taking illegal u-turns in the middle of the road if the mood strikes them or playing hip-hop nonsense with the police siren because they have the maturity of a 10 year old.
It may not be true in all areas of the country, but certainly in my neck of the woods the police are not “mostly” good guys. They’re mostly dicks!
"Sorry, folks. The Palin statement was merely effective hyperbole."
So, if Palin had talked about government run gas ovens that Obama wanted to create to eradicate the elderly, would that be appropriate "hyperbole”, too, since it is as equal in truth as the "death panels" bullshit?
It's not surprising that the same shit-heads who were uneducated and naive enough to believe Iraq could attack the United States would be dumb enough to believe that optional counseling on end of life issues that most human beings face if they don't die in an accident (or a Republican vanity war) would mysteriously turn into “death panels” simply because that’s the lie the healthcare industry that controls congress wants unquestioning, dip-shit Americans to fall for. And like the drooling imbeciles they are, reg'lar 'Mericans' play their part without question.
The ironic part is how these same dipshits will pride themselves on seeing through politicians bullshit, and here they are (as they were in 2003) eagerly, mindlessly and obediently following the most transparently corrupt, ignorant, and morally bankrupt politicians (Sarah Palin, Newt Gingrich, etc.) and spokesmen for the corporate elite (Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Bill O’Reilly) to continue the healthcare industry's desired status quo whereby millions of Americans will continue to be denied healthcare so “grandma and grandpa” can die painfully and prematurely.
I doubt most of these clueless twits opposed to providing all Americans with healthcare would even deny that they would rather “grandma and grandpa” die prematurely than EVER allow a black president to enact universal healthcare.
I can't wait for Diane Sawyer to tear into Huckabee and ask him if he is "ashamed" of what he's said, the way she did to Natalie Maines. No doubt Limbaugh is vilifying Huckabee right now, since it's about patriotism & love of country, not party affiliation, that guides them. I certainly don't doubt the GOP is extremely patriotic. As they made clear in 2003, ANYONE who criticizes the actions of our COMMANDER IN CHIEF during war time AND on foreign soil hates America!
60 Minutes? CNN? Chris Matthews? Hello?
"The loyal opposition always gets more time"
That certainly explains why the press ignored Osama Bin Laden - no one in the media or the Bush administration considered him the "opposition". For 8 years Bush maintained a hands-off policy on Bin Laden and the media accepted it without question or condemnation.
"I truly am not that concerned about him"President George W Bush - 13 March 2002
6 months after 9.11 Bush made it clear he had no interest or concern in getting Bin Laden and the media never pressed the issue. When Carter was president we had a daily count on the number of days Iran had "America Held Hostage". That's how the liberal media works.
Those of us who saw getting Bin Laden as a top priority after 9.11, watched in disbelief as Bush admitted he wasn't concerned with getting him, and our compliant media accepted it 100%. Killing Pat Tillman in Afghanistan doesn't change a thing.
I know it's fun for people like you and Sarah Palin to exploit dead US troops for whatever bullshit you're pedaling. Bottom line - If Bin Laden was indeed the man who ordered the attacks on America, he remains victorious thanks to the Harvard-pedigreed, cheerleader, George W Bush.
"I have expressed my view consistently wherever I am and don't say different things depending on who I am talking to."- Mike Huckabee
I'm pretty sure that's EXACTLY what Natalie Maines did in 2003 that got her blacklisted by Clear Channel, not to mention getting death threats by the mentally-handicapped, ever-so-patriotic rightwing.
Diane Sawyer spent an entire hour in April 2003 with the Dixie Chicks, personally offended (a'la Dana Carvey's Church Lady), that these young hooligan upstarts weren't showing the proper respect to THE COMMANDER IN CHIEF OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, while on "foreign soil" (spit)!
And what about Jerry Falwell who spent the entire 8 years President Clinton was in office hustling a sleazy video every Sunday on his 'Old Time Gospel Hour' program entitled "The Clinton Chronicles" that said President Clinton was a murderer, a rapist, and was hooked on cocaine - and that Hillary not only had an affair with Vince Foster but was intimately involved in his murder/suicide.
To this day people still swear up-and-down what Natalie Maines did was DESPICABLE, and UNFORGIVEABLE, and that the ire of rightwingers had nothing whatsoever to do with partisanship, but was reflective of the intense patriotism of Heartland-Americans, something "liberals" in big cities just couldn't understand.
