Wrapping individual crimes in the American flag

The crimes that have been committed were committed by individuals in the Bush Administration. Trying to confuse those lawbreaking Americans with 'The Embodiment of All Things American’ is the same crap that the GOP pulled at the beginning of their unprovoked attack on Iraq. If you opposed their – the GOP’s – blood-thirsty actions you were somehow shitting on Abraham Lincoln, apple pie, and baseball. It’s interesting how GOP officials believe their actions represent ‘All Things American’ when it suits their needs, but when it works to their disadvantage (such as adhering to our Constitution) then they can’t be bothered with ‘All Things American.’

In a 2005 poll by the Chicago Council on Foreign Relations, an overwhelming percentage of Americans (including Republicans) approved having cases of war crimes being sent to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in regards to Darfur. I wonder what a similar poll might indicate if Americans were asked about American lawbreakers being held liable for their war crimes at the ICC.

http://oldsite.globalsolutions.org/press_room/press_releases/press_releases05/icc_darfur_poll.html

"In July 2004, another CCFR poll displayed that 82 percent of respondents (and 83 percent of Republicans) favored trying terrorists at the ICC, and that 75 percent of Americans supported U.S. participation with the Court."

In the case of Darfur, the Bush administration opposed using the ICC in favor of a tribunal because they believed the ICC encouraged political vendettas. That’s apparently a one-size-fits-all excuse for ignoring criminal behavior.

Calling the kettle crack

It's interesting that Jeffrey Goldberg, a cross-dressing, hermaphrodite and pedophile, wanted in Utah on bestiality charges, would recklessly throw around baseless character slurs.

Derbig Mooser

Actually, I think WinSmith's psychotic state was the by-product of a traumatic early dining experience. One night he demanded chicken for dinner but his parents said, "eat your fish or you'll be damned to a life of complete irrelevance."... Needless to say, he didn’t eat the fish ... I hope the chicken was worth it.

The Gutless Ofay Patrol: 2001-2008

The GOP costumed militias did rear their hypocritical "defense of America" play-acting during the past 8 years. When the Dixie Chicks dared to point out that George W Bush was an "embarrassment". Then, suddenly, defending the honor of The President of The United States was not only what true "patriots" do, but sending death threats to young girls who dared to impugn the honor of a Harvard-pedigreed, preppy Republican president was the height of tough-guy "Americanism". Now that the GOP no longer hold the presidency, saying the president should be shot down and killed in the streets like an animal (the NY Post) is suddenly very acceptable social discourse.

"It's NICE to trust people you like. yes, I COULD be wrong, but I DON'T WANT TO BE, so I and many like me (two thirds of the U.S.) won't believe what you say."

Voting for someone is substantially different than a blind loyalty in them. 2/3 of the US does not share your wide-eyed, NICE trust. They voted for Obama for a wide variety of reasons. One of the top being his primary challenger was Republican John McCain.

I love my car. It's a kick-ass Mazda RX8. But I know I can only trust to get me where I'm going by constantly monitoring it, steering it, controlling it’s direction, and making sure it’s properly maintained. I know that if I don't it either won’t get me where I'm going or it will slam into a fucking wall ... hey, this is some pretty heavy stuff I'm laying down!

Think what you will, but the majority of posters here would agree with me on that.

Here? What do you base that on? I certainly wouldn't say most people who post on this board trust Obama as unconditionally as you do. If they did I wouldn't read the posts.

Oh. Well, I certainly agree with that. Obama would also do a better job as president than my cat, but I'm not sure that's really a selling point.

Are you asking, seriously, where rockybalboa gets his "reliable information?"

From the bard:

"[Obama is a] Certified Marxist. Likely Anarchist .. Saudi dupe, most of his money has come from Saudi Arabia and other Muslim countries ... Terrorist sympathiser (sic)... Manchurian Candidate-like robot for the Saudis"

"obie's background includes serious friendships with dozens of muslims, some of those friendships still exist."

-- rockybalboa

I'm just now imaging what would happen to the US if we had a president who refused to heed the dire warnings of Saudi terrorism due his deep financial ties to that nation. I'm also imagining not only the United States being attacked on that president's watch, but the president maintaining a hands-off policy on the mastermind of that attack because the president had been set-up in business (I know this is "crazy, but bare with me) through funding from the mastermind's brother (lets call him "Salem" for shits & giggles).

Gosh, do you really think "Obama" is that much of a Manchurian Candidate for Saudi Arabia he would put his financial interests before the very lives of the Americans he's been entrusted to preside over?? And do NOTHING to stop or get the perpetrator of an attack??!!

"if you are denying the Bible, then you are in a great deal of trouble my friend."

I'll keep that under as much advisement as Bush did when he placed his hand on it and swore to uphold the Constitution.
