Has anyone else noticed the shift in tone from the earlier posts by hopelessly-thick-&-unaware-of-what-they're-talking-about ANGRY rightwingers such as Rich007 and trey_b, to the now hopelessly-thick-and-unaware-of-what-they're-talking-about LAME-HUMOR rightwingers such as Thawk7 and jimbo101?
Their fake outrage has now been replaced by a 2nd grade level humor.
Personally, I find the fake outrage is more enjoyable and (surprisingly) less naïve!
"The Obama people will then of course say how all of this shows the fix is in, how she's guilty, has no respect for the rule of law, etc., etc."-- Fladad
Of course, she most likely IS guilty, the fix IS in, and she HAS no respect for the law!
Other than that, I guess it's outrageous to spotlight her entitlement beliefs and slime-ball ethics during a political campaign!
That deregulation and trickle-down economics -- the bedrock philosophy of the GOP since 'Morning in America' Ronnie -- would end up being a complete bust and cost the American people billions & billions of dollars? That the American people can't trust the uber-elite corporate class to ever do the right thing? That the Right is never Right and always Wrong?
But, as with their horrific "values" in the 1960's, all the excesses, greed, avarice, and amoral beliefs are attributed to everyone BUT them.
Question: Is the rightwing responsible for anything positive or good for America? Ever?
At the laundromat in Luverne, Minn., Gerald Hayman, 48 ... "She don't mind stepping on people's toes, and maybe Washington needs that," ..."And she's got a pretty nice pair of legs on her."At the Powder River Stockman's Club in Broadus, Mont., a town of 451 people ... S. Samuelson, 55, "She's hot." -- he saw Palin as "kind of a fighter, who ain't scared to shake stuff up." That will probably win his vote, Samuelson said.
"She'll put a match under McCain's butt!" huffed Gertrude Burke, 84, of Winslow, Mo. Her daughter Mary Burke, 62, shared her excitement, voicing common admiration of Palin as "down-to-earth, a mother, an outdoors woman ... and very well educated."
Charles Kempf, 65, a retired maintainence worker, and Judy Kempf, 61, a retired office manager, are both lifelong Democrats from Mesquite, Nev...."[Palin] kinda relates to us commonfolk ... she's got a family, she's got problems," as opposed to Obama, who "just talks above and is nothing but a script reader."
Face it Charlie, it's not the 'script' that's bothering you, it's the reading!
The thing that's often missing when the media does their psychological studies of the nesting and breeding habits of "Real 'mericans" (i.e. people who live far from metropolitan areas), and their "common sense" approach, is that many of them are dumber than a 10 pound sack of horse shit!
This bizarre notion that people who say monumentally stupid things like the "reg'lar folks" in this piece, should somehow not only be forgiven, but should be revered because they ain't got none o' them fancy, ‘cross-cultural’ experiences. They believe in the Bible literally, dangit! And think with their gut, no matter how bigoted and unaware of circumstances they are! They live and work with like-minded white-only folks… but it would be OUTRAGEOUS to ever call them nimrods or jackasses!! Those kinds of slurs are reserved for the filthy city-dwellers. The "weirdos" who live in high-rises and near places terrorists might attack.
No doubt Gerald Hayman, Gertrude Burke, Charles & Judy Kempf, etc., don't have to worry about the downtown Piggly Wiggly being attacked any time soon (Unless Luther, the town idiot, burns it down). They can comfortably vote for some irresponsible, reactionary, clown like Palin who "shoots from the hip, without thinking!" Because when America faces retaliation for her arrogance and stupidity, it'll be those metro-freaks that “read books”, and piss off people like Charles Kempf, that will bear the full brunt of the consequences to the Palin/Bush/McCain policies.
It's interesting to note that there doesn't seem to any of the fire-breathing, rightwing idiocy tonight over this post like there was last week over the Sarah Palin post (‘What does Sarah Palin have to hide in her Yahoo e-mails?’). To me it seems largely the same issue at stake – rightwing hypocrisy.
I have to wonder if when Glenn titled this piece he wasn’t thinking how irony-challenged the rightwingers proved to be last week and decided to spare himself their clueless vitriol.
Personally, I like watching the rightwing froth at the mouth, completely unaware of their shocking stupidity. But, as when Homer Simpson lies on the floor chasing after himself, at first the family laughs -- only to become sad and uneasy when he continues.
Digby had a post yesterday that perfectly illustrates the alarming save-us-daddy mentality being espoused by the media talking heads (which is very similar to their belief 5 years ago that Captain Codpiece could save us all from evil-doers). Just a snippet of the conversation below between Chris Matthews, Richard Wolf and Lynn Sweet, captures their fear, ignorance, and daddy-craving perfectly.
----------
Matthews:THANK GOD this president has this secretary of treasury and not the one other ones he had before, perhaps. But Richard, the people can't vote on things like this.
Wolf: (nods sagely)
Matthews:We can't understand it. I'm one of them. I don't get it. What are all these derivatives and all this short selling and all this complicated financial ... skigamadoo or whatever you call it. What is it?
Wolf: Even the candidates have problem getting through this alphabet soup. I mean, they've both mangled the players and the key terms of those involved here. Are they talking about firing the right person when he talks about Chris Cox? Is it Fannie Mac or Freddie Mae?
Matthews:I'm just wondering if it's above our pay grade? I think Carly Fiorina may have been right. These guys can run for president but they can't be Secretary of the Treasury.
