This may have already been mentioned, but on the CNN website there's a page called CNN iReport that allows viewers to upload video of news stories that are not being covered. I have no idea how legitimate it is in allowing viewers to upload news that may be 'inconvenient truths' to the networks, but it might be worth a try if there's anyone with video content to upload. I contacted the iWitness blog that Glenn referenced to let them know this might be a good way to get some traction with this story in the media
"the protesters, all 50,000 strong, will be able to make complete idiots out of themselves while serious people in the Bush Administration and in the McCain Campaign tour the hurricane-affected gulf states."
"..serious people in the Bush Administration and in the McCain Campaign."
HAHAHA!! Thanks! I needed a laugh.
"The traditional liberal media monopoly doesn't exist anymore."-- Rush Limbaugh 11/20/02
"We have the media now."
-- Ann Coulter 07/25/05
If Coulter and Limbaugh, two of the media's most well-respected, feces-throwing, Republican voices can publicly admit the incredibly self-evident truth -- that the "liberal media" doesn’t exist – it’s time to stop constantly catering to the far-rightwing fringe minority viewpoint that has dictated the direction and conversation of the US media since (at least) the time Jimmy Carter was president.
"Does he really believe that the wisdom that Sarah Palin got from her small town upbringing, local politics, and the Governor's office does not make her qualified to be the President?" -- ehillesum
Any evidence of "the wisdom that Sarah Palin got" would be most appreciated.
”Your empty-suit ticket got smoked by Sarah Palin last night. And there was substance.”-- T. Suarez
Would that be when she talked about the need to stop sending American jobs going overseas? No, she didn’t do that.
Would it be her railing against the fact that nearly 50 million Americans have no health coverage and that roughly 18,000 deaths a year are caused by it? No, she didn’t do that.
Then certainly she must have been hammering home the point that it’s been 7 GODDAMN YEARS SINCE 9.11 and absolutely NOTHING has been done to get Osama Bin Laden – someone who, thanks to Bush/Cheney/McCain – has been made into an undeniably victorious hero throughout the Middle East. No, she didn’t do that.
So, what were her issues of “substance”? She bitched and moaned and cried about being a “real American” with “small town values” who’s not taken seriously by those Democratic meanies - and Barack Obama's an "elitist"!! WAH! WAH! WAH!
Also, 'Patriot Extraordinaire' John McCain was shot down 40 years ago and even though he never shuts up about it, people still have a much higher favorability rating towards Obama. WAH! WAH! WAH! NOT FAIR! NOT FAIR!
JESUS !! Shut the fuck up already!! Accusing the left of “whining” considering that the rightwing’s ENTIRE PLATFORM for 2008 is to cry FOUL incessantly and avoid any talk of the economy, healthcare, lost jobs, skyrocketing deficit, Bin Laden’s victory, and the horrifically botched Iraqi & Afghanistan clusterfucks is pathetic even for the predictably whimpering bitchboys of the Republican Party!
”They always place way too much emphasis on what the David Broders and Fred Hiatts say about them.”-- GlennGreenwald
And nothing illustrates the Democrats cow-towing to the lowest level of Republican propagandists than Obama going on Bill O’Reilly’s far-right Bullshit Zone. Here’s an indolent, uneducated, rightwing-reactionary (not to mention sexual deviant) who’s sole purpose in life is to lie for the GOP, and Obama agrees to go on his show, treat him with undo dignity & respect, make absurd claims to placate the rightwing about the failed surge being a success beyond our “Wildest Dreams” (I guess those dreams don’t include the benchmarks set before Operation Riding Out the Bush Clock) and appeasing chickenhawks wanting to believe war with Iran could happen on Obama’s watch.
Imagine McCain taking questions from Randi Rhodes, or Amy Goodman, or Sam Seder, and placating the left by admitting the Iraq fiasco was a mistake?… Then again, I said the same thing when Hillary had her lovefest with Mr Falafel. I couldn’t imagine her going on Democracy Now or the formerly progressive Air America, and she never did… And to be honest, I don’t recall Obama ever being interviewed on any progressive programs.
"The U.S. will remain the preeminent power, but that American dominance will be much diminished"- The Washington Post (9-10-08)
America being attacked on 9.11 and allowing the perpetrator to face no reprisal or comeuppance showed the United States to be weak.
The American government executing a fantasy plan designed to ‘Shock and Awe’ foreigners into submission and failing catastrophically showed the United States to be impotent.
Allowing a mentally challenged, Harvard-pedigreed cheerleader to pretend he was a “tough” and “rugged” leader despite being the exact opposite (a coward, a lightweight, and a wimp) cemented the United States’ reputation as a weak and impotent player not to be taken seriously.
"I thought you were going to ask me about the pig"- George W Bush (07-13-06)
Sure… why not...
