@ KateTex
[Read the article: What Barack Obama can learn from Jesse Ventura]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"... that black guy has been shown over and over to have the moral integrity of a dumpster, you're going to march into that voting booth and Do The Right Thing."
-- KateTex
Get it, "Do the Right Thing". It's a movie by a Negro filmmaker! It's that kind of biting Limbaughesque, rightwing wit that keeps Republican comedians from ever reaching the big time.
Who is KateTex? KateTex is one of over a million pathetic Republicans who now call themselves "Independent" or "Not Republican" (anything's better than admitting you were wrong to support President ShitforBrains back in 2003, and cheered wholeheartedly for the war, damn the consequences, and calling anyone not stupid enough to support Dubya an “America hater”).
Yes, these are tough times for spineless, ex-Republicans, like KateTex, desperately hiding their former affiliation in hopes no one knows what kind of pathetic slugs they truly are.
I've yet to see any editorials on Salon (or anywhere else for that matter) about this new breed of self-hating “Republican Independents”. Read some of Not-Republican KateTex's bizarro ramblings, and you’ll notice that when she’s not screeching against a negro having the audacity to run for the White House, she's trying to reclaim her glory days of the 1990's when screaming about the Monica Lewinsky/Bill Clinton affair was an all-encompassing scandal that Republicans could pretend truly mattered and was “gravely serious”, knowing the national media was completely onboard in the farce. One thing you won't find in KateTex's Not-Republican ramblings is any accountability for her supporting the asshole currently in the White House who has devastated our economy, ruined our standing as an honorable nation on the world stage, and slaughtered tens of thousands of innocent people all for the all-mighty dollar, faux bravado, and to conceal lil' Georgie's life-long problem with being a gutless, impotent coward afraid of war. The fact that KateTex is directly responsible for installing the worst president in US history, and upwards of one million innocent deaths, is oddly missing from her screeds.
Nowhere does KateTex say, "You're right. I was wrong to support Bush and the war." What you will see is page after page of incoherent hatred towards all true Not-Republicans, and certainly anyone like Barack Obama who wasn't as short-sighted and stupid as KateTex to support the war.
Ooh! Doesn’t it make you angry, KateTex?!!!
Yes, there are many, many, many “Independents” voting in 2008. Proving that all throughout the 90's when rightwingers said "accountability mattered", it was all a joke at best, and a devastating lie at worst from which this country may never fully recover.

[Read the article: What Barack Obama can learn from Jesse Ventura]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Thanks. When someone is as "unglued" and desperate to pretend she's not Republican, while spewing forth every single talking point that shamed Republicans today use ("Who me? What? Republican? No! Never! I just hate Obama, Clinton, etc."), it's as pathetic as Bill O'Reilly claiming he's not a Republican.

What Lenny Bruce would say
[Read the article: Keith Olbermann: Then and now]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"Don't be a baby, be a man. Sell out."
--Lenny Bruce
Lenny Bruce was quoting a network bigwig 50 years ago attempting to get him to change his firm stance on an extremely innocuous joke he wanted to tell that the network felt would be too offensive to some people to broadcast. Lenny refused to cower and sell out.
It's extremely disheartening that Barack Obama is so willing to cower and trade in his principles and sell out to such loathsome shit as George W Bush and the rightwing freaks.

Winning is everything - regardless of the policies
[Read the article: Keith Olbermann's reply and Obama's secret plan to protect the rule of law]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Glenn, you’re 100% correct. It’s beyond pathetic watching the very people who’ve railed against Bush and the GOP for the past 7 years immediately give unconditional support for the same destructive, civil-liberty-crushing actions and lawbreaking when it comes from select Sacred Democrats.
Where does this craven dismissal of core progressive principles end?
We’ve had both the blind support for Hillary (So, she green-lighted the Iraq fiasco? So, she signed on to the Kyle/Lieberman amendment? So, she’d obliterate a country that poses no threat to us for cheap political gain? I want a woman president!), and the blind support for Obama (So, he’ll eviscerate Constitutional liberties? So, he’ll give blanket amnesty to telecoms that spied on customers? So he betrayed his promise? Do you want John McCain to be president?!)
Go to Huffington Post and you’ll see “progressives” posting articles about the need to shut up or John McCain will win! On the radio, you have Ron Kuby, the neutered progressive liberal appointed by the neutered progressive Mark Green to Air America to replace Randi Rhodes, yesterday going on and on about how “unaware” and “silly” people were being to condemn Obama on this issue. According to Civil Rights Lawyer Ron Kuby this isn’t important.
It’s pretty clear that there are more than a minority of so-called progressives who want to take the reigns from Bush, regardless of the continued erosion of our laws and civil liberties, just so that the control, however defective, can be in OUR hands instead of the rightwing.
