Original article: The Democrats' God problem

I'm not so sure...

The Dem candidates may be making a big mistake with all this "finding god" in their political lives. While the bible-thumpers may make a lot of noise about needing a fellow delusional in power, is that really true? Does a nut-ball christian really need a nut-ball christian heart surgeon when his/her life is on the line? A nut-ball christian airliner pilot to guide his/her aluminum tube safely from A to B? A nut-ball christian plumber, for that matter? This is, I think, another case of the media making something out of almost nothing.

Boy...

I'm afraid I can see some benefit in tying educational freebies to length of service. I can't say where the lines should be drawn, but shouldn't there be something? College costs too damn much these days to be throwing money around to people who signed up for a few months in Berlin.

Holey moley, Joan, you're losing it.

Gee, a poll finds that an idiot president who's damaged this entire country -- if not beyond repair certainly to an extent that's going to take a generation or more to repair, not to mention directly caused the deaths of tens of thousands of human beings is "a bigger albatross" than a slightly loopy but decidedly benevolent pastor of a church that is a dot on the U.S. map too small to pinpoint with a VERY sharp pencil? Really? And that's worth an editorial?

Ms. Walsh, with all respect, I suggest you need to hike to a high mountaintop somewhere and spend some time regaining your perspective.

If only...

Providing jobs were a matter of fighting harder. HRC is turning into a real windbag.

Oblivion?

I know it's only a headline, but it's a pretty unkind headline. Unless WS knows something about HRC planning to quit politics and go live under a rock if she doesn't get the nomination, it's a safe bet her next stop will not be "Oblivion." She's a popular and effective U.S. Senator, etc.

Losing RL's endorsement

Is like getting over a bad case of poison oak. Look out, BO, here he comes.

Original article: Candidates go a-courtin'

Hillary right on the money!

"I'm staying in this race until there's a nominee." Well, right. As soon as you get out, there'll be a nominee. Kind of leaves the door open, doesn't it...

Original article: Clinton writes to Obama

Mike LeP

"...I've got to admit, I'm sort of relishing her public self-humiliation ..."

Dude, this isn't an episode of Project Runway. The Dem party needs strong, smart pols like HRC. Her presidential campaign has brought out some flaws, no question, but she's still on the side of the good guys and a real fighter. Get yer ya-yas somewhere else and hope that when the dust settles on this campaign, she is still a force to be reckoned with.

So transparent

Rule Of God = Rule Of God's Messengers (since you can't see God) = RULE OF ME!!!

Thanks, Glenn

For keeping this alive. I'm very surprised that the media, the TV networks, caught red-handed, can't manage to cover the story and at the same time give themselves a little cover. If, as I suspect, the tradition of taking input from experts who on the surface one would have every reason to believe are who they say they are is a long one that hasn't resulted in this kind of scandal in the past -- why not just say so? Why not say, "We've been using people like this for decades and no one ever poisoned the well before. Perhaps we were naive, perhaps we were too trusting, but look, folks, these men were top-level military people, highly decorated -- who would have dreamed they'd allow themselves to be corrupted so thoroughly? We promise to be more vigilant in the future, we feel as badly about this as anyone."

How awful!

McCain says Obama might actually be friendly with Iran. Wouldn't that be awful? No, much better we be enemies.

Eh.

I can see this as one in a suite of ads. But as one that stands out enough to merit a prize?

Monday, May 12, 2008 10:30 AM

Does anyone question?

Does anyone question why OBL would want GWB to continue as POTUS? When you lack the resources to wage war against a superpower, but are able to sting it once and then sit back as it bankrupts itself morally and economically itself in overreaction -- why would you want to see the chief architect of that self-destruction (and his enabling pals) leave office?

Monday, May 12, 2008 09:47 PM

So sad

"When the Hortons find out what McCain wants to do with their social security and the economy, an arrogant black man might not seem so bad after all."

That's what's so sad about these bone-ignorant people. Not merely that they're ignorant (it's to be expected - places like WVa suffer from brain-drain) but that they can so easily be conned into voting against their own best interests. Even a cow or a chicken knows when it's being led to slaughter.

Ah yes, I remember it well...

The first thing I remember noticing about Reagan's presidency was...the homeless. It was something new here in Los Angeles, to see dark, huddled figures sleeping on bus benches and in doorways, shuffling along with downcast faces, often muttering, even shouting on occasion to unseen tormentors. How did this happen, where did these people suddenly appear from? They weren't all Vietnam vets, in fact few of them were. They were simply people who needed help, who needed care, who needed someplace safe to be mentally ill, and Ronald Reagan's "Less government is more good" policies had put them on the streets.

Nothing will ever rehabilitate that old fraud in my eyes, ever.
