Well, of course.
I'm old enough to remember my great-grandpappy's stories about crossing a substantial chunk of the U.S. in a covered wagon (this was after the railroads were in, but they were too poor to travel by rail with all their stuff). At times, progress in rain and mud so slow that one night's campsite was in view of their campsite from the night before. A lot of very hard work over weeks and weeks, and sometimes not everyone made it.
New York to L.A. in six hours is a gift from the gods. It will cost what it costs. Airlines will grow or shrink to fit the demand at the prices they have to charge to stay in business. All this clothes-rending and hair-tearing about it shows a distinct lack of historical perspective, IMO.
One suspects the rats are leaving the ship already and this guy James was the only one left they could find to go on TV for Bush. What a moron, and aggressively moronic as well.
This irrational stubbornness is a desperate, perhaps unconscious ploy by the Clintons to save their marriage. If she were to win the nomination, there'd be a basis for continuing it, in fact a mandate to continue it. If she loses, what's holding it together vanishes, it's toast and they have to face the horrible, fully public mess that will ensue. Who can blame them for wanting to postpone that moment as long as humanly possible?

"...no politician dares to express these majoritarian views. Right-wing neocons with clearly fringe views have succeeded in making the mainstream views -- the ones held by most Americans -- off-limits to mainstream political leaders..."
Yes, because the mainstream in this country doesn't write the checks that are the lifeblood of politicians. Pick your issue and you'll find, more often than not, that the views and wishes of the so-called mainstream, in spite of the implications of the word, are being marginalized by fringe voices, driven by ideology and/or greed, and amplified by money.
Excuse me, this is news??
The first thing I remember noticing about Reagan's presidency was...the homeless. It was something new here in Los Angeles, to see dark, huddled figures sleeping on bus benches and in doorways, shuffling along with downcast faces, often muttering, even shouting on occasion to unseen tormentors. How did this happen, where did these people suddenly appear from? They weren't all Vietnam vets, in fact few of them were. They were simply people who needed help, who needed care, who needed someplace safe to be mentally ill, and Ronald Reagan's "Less government is more good" policies had put them on the streets.
Nothing will ever rehabilitate that old fraud in my eyes, ever.
"When the Hortons find out what McCain wants to do with their social security and the economy, an arrogant black man might not seem so bad after all."
That's what's so sad about these bone-ignorant people. Not merely that they're ignorant (it's to be expected - places like WVa suffer from brain-drain) but that they can so easily be conned into voting against their own best interests. Even a cow or a chicken knows when it's being led to slaughter.
Does anyone question why OBL would want GWB to continue as POTUS? When you lack the resources to wage war against a superpower, but are able to sting it once and then sit back as it bankrupts itself morally and economically itself in overreaction -- why would you want to see the chief architect of that self-destruction (and his enabling pals) leave office?
I can see this as one in a suite of ads. But as one that stands out enough to merit a prize?
McCain says Obama might actually be friendly with Iran. Wouldn't that be awful? No, much better we be enemies.
For keeping this alive. I'm very surprised that the media, the TV networks, caught red-handed, can't manage to cover the story and at the same time give themselves a little cover. If, as I suspect, the tradition of taking input from experts who on the surface one would have every reason to believe are who they say they are is a long one that hasn't resulted in this kind of scandal in the past -- why not just say so? Why not say, "We've been using people like this for decades and no one ever poisoned the well before. Perhaps we were naive, perhaps we were too trusting, but look, folks, these men were top-level military people, highly decorated -- who would have dreamed they'd allow themselves to be corrupted so thoroughly? We promise to be more vigilant in the future, we feel as badly about this as anyone."
Rule Of God = Rule Of God's Messengers (since you can't see God) = RULE OF ME!!!
"...I've got to admit, I'm sort of relishing her public self-humiliation ..."
Dude, this isn't an episode of Project Runway. The Dem party needs strong, smart pols like HRC. Her presidential campaign has brought out some flaws, no question, but she's still on the side of the good guys and a real fighter. Get yer ya-yas somewhere else and hope that when the dust settles on this campaign, she is still a force to be reckoned with.
When this many pundits are this certain of anything...
"I'm staying in this race until there's a nominee." Well, right. As soon as you get out, there'll be a nominee. Kind of leaves the door open, doesn't it...
Is like getting over a bad case of poison oak. Look out, BO, here he comes.
I know it's only a headline, but it's a pretty unkind headline. Unless WS knows something about HRC planning to quit politics and go live under a rock if she doesn't get the nomination, it's a safe bet her next stop will not be "Oblivion." She's a popular and effective U.S. Senator, etc.
