I am originally from the Detroit area and that used to be on bumper stickers years ago.....Will the last one out of Detroit please turn off the lights.
So Obama goes after AIG, great. What about Goldman Sachs? What about Citibank? What about Merill Lynch?
Why do some criminal corporations get a slap on the wrist and some do not?
It's the same with the auto bailout.....why does the auto industry rate so special? Many other industries are suffering just as bad but they don't get any special help.
it's a start.
Over $780 billion in corporate welfare, Obama increased the amount of our tax revenue that goes to churches, he increased the military budget by $40 billion, he is against equal rights for gays/lesbians, he supports new coal plants in Illinois, he increased the covert war in Pakistan via the cia, etc.
Obama is not a socialist, he is not a liberal, he is not even a "centerist".
What happened to the socialist party that used to actually fight back?
Liberals generally support equal rights for gays/lesbians and are generally against coal pollution which is what I wrote.
A general strike is a good idea.....the French ain't so bad!
via the faith based fraud?
As President Obama prepares to unveil his version of President Bush’s faith-based program and introduce a new advisory council for it, there is little indication that he will deliver on his promises to remedy its inherent constitutional problems in a timely way. "Changing two words in the name does not make this a new program," said Ron Millar, acting director of the Secular Coalition for America. "It still begins with 'faith-based' and it still ends up giving taxpayer dollars to religious institutions."
The Secular Coalition for America lobbied for closure of President Bush's White House Office of Faith-based and Community Initiatives on the grounds that providing federal funds to religious institutions is a violation of church-state separation and a threat to individual religious liberty. Faith-based funding under the Bush administration: privileged religious groups by giving them special access to federal dollars; failed to monitor whether funds were used to evangelize or convert recipients of social services; and failed to ensure that organizations receiving federal dollars did not discriminate by hiring only those individuals who share their religious views.
So far, President Obama has offered no specifics on how and when he will address these constitutional problems he himself has identified in the sprawling, multi-agency program. What is known is that he will give it a new director, appoint an advisory council to oversee it, and order a legal review of hiring practices. "Giving the same, flawed program a new name and new personnel is not the change we need," said Millar. "Not another taxpayer dollar should be spent until all the constitutional and civil rights concerns are addressed."

and we saw whos side he and the democratically controlled congress chose.
but doesn't get any blame for passing the $780 billion corporate welfare bill in the first place???
Obama has to be careful not to anger his Wall Street backers.
I wouldn't count on it.
WASHINGTON — With two missile strikes over the past week, the Obama administration has expanded the covert war run by the Central Intelligence Agency inside Pakistan, attacking a militant network seeking to topple the Pakistani government.

Wouldn't it be nice if Obama supported the people (even if they are not christian) instead of a corrupt and dictatorial government.....I'm referring to Pakistan but it also applies to America.
we could learn a thing or two.
The media's use of Detroit representing the auto industry is another example of how out of touch the media is with our economic problems.
The auto industry packed up and left Detroit in the 80s.
Perhaps a viewing of Roger and Me is in order?
This doesn’t look good for Rep. John Murtha: The Washington Post is reporting that a Pennsylvania defense research center regularly consulted with two “handlers” close to the Democratic congressman as it collected almost $250 million in federal funding through him—and then channeled much of the money to companies that were among his campaign supporters. The Electro-Optics Center, created by the lawmaker a decade ago, relied on advice from a lobbyist for PMA Group—the subject of a federal investigation tied to Murtha—and a longtime Murtha friend who’s now a member of his appropriations staff. Describing Murtha’s requests for earmarks known as “plus-ups,” a former defense appropriations official told The Post: “A staffer for a congressman says, ‘I need you to accept this money for sensors, a couple million.’ If I said no, he can turn around and say I won’t support you on this other thing you really want. I could say no—then his boss calls the general to complain about me.”

Far be it from me to promote the Washington Post but even a broken clock is right twice a day.
he is a corporate shill.
something America has absolutely none of.
just ask Rev. "god damn america" Wright and Rev. Rick Warren, both of whom must be happy since Obama increased the amount of our tax revenue that goes to churches.
oh those poor executives......they might just have to fly first class instead of taking their private jets.
Obama has made it perfectly clear that the democrats support the same agenda as the republicans:
1. more money for corporations
2. more money for the military
3. more money for churches
Obama has increased funding to all three groups.
by increasing the amount of our tax revenue that goes to churches who actively try to take away our rights via Prop. 8, etc.
