I wonder how much more money Rick Warren will make from this little stunt

given the national exposure?

How many more books, t shirts, and dvds will he sell for the good of his "church" and his bank accounts?

How much more hate and intolerance will he spread thanks to Obama giving him this national exposure?

At least republicans give back to their base after the elections

the democrats just take their money then pander to the "center" which is an excuse to keep organized religion and corporations in power.

How do I get a refund on my civil rights?

The gay community needs to follow the Jewish example

and not always align our vote with the democratic party. They tend to split their vote which forces both parties to pander for their support. (In our case I would suggest splitting the vote between democrats and the green party or a strong independent).

If we stop automatically voting for Democrats it would force them to actually fight for our equality if they want our support in an election.

re: stackey-dackey

From a statistical standpoint I think you are correct....most gays tend to live in blue states and urban areas.

However even more important than our single vote is our money.

By support I was thinking financial but I should have been clearer.

That being said we should also not give any money to the democratic party at the national level until Obama is gone.

If you know a candidate that consistently supports our equality than please donate to them directly, don't go through the national democratic party structure.

I'll take "don't ask, don't tell" and doma over Obama any day

"Don't ask, don't tell" is a step in the right direction as far as I'm concerned. The military's prejudices make right wing christians look like lambs.....it's going to take time to change the military.

Doma was a disappointment but it was a republican controlled congress at the time, in their peak of popularity (pre 911) contract with america, remember?

Obama is facing a democratic congress and record dissatisfaction with the republican party. He has no need to suck up to the republicans at this point.

And spare me "he's the president of all the people" bullshit.

The right wing has had the last 8 years with 2 of them in complete control of every branch of the government.

If he really is the president of all the people then it's time to let the left lead for awhile.

PS my defense of bill is no defense for the democratic party as a whole.....dean/reid/pelosi have abandoned everything the democratic party stood for by giving bush everything he ever wanted, just to win an election

Too bad he didn't rip Obama for opposing equal rights for gays

"I do not support gay marriage. Marriage has religious and social connotations, and I consider marriage to be between a man and a woman." (From the Human Rights Campaign's 2008 Presidential questionnaire) - Barack Hussein Obama

Reaching out to the right??? What about the left???

The right wing has been running the last 8 years with 2 of them in complete control of every branch of the government. The last thing they need is someone to reach out to them.

Finally someone calls a spade a spade and admits Obama only cares about himself.

Obama is an inexperienced, unqualified religious fanatic who only got elected by exploiting the hate and prejudices of religious voters.....exactly like George Bush.

Get ready for 4 years of Bush Dark.

Original article: Disappointed by Rick Warren

Hey Joan, what ever happened to "I only think so if Barack Obama thinks so"

Oh, now that Obama is supporting anti choice you actually criticize him because you care about that issue but while he was taking away the rights of gays you couldn't care less.

You personify the typical Obama supporter.....you don't care what he does to anyone else as long as you get what you want.

Just like Dean/Reid/Pelosi didn't care that millions of people are being killed in Iraq and gave Bush everything he wanted in a cynical ploy to win an election.

People like you make me sick.

Obama claims he is "a fierce advocate for equality for gay and lesbian americans"

So he is lying to our face as he tries to screw us, now I know how women feel.

Your forgetting one very important fact about Bill Clinton

The time he was president the republicans were in control of congress and were at their peak of popularity (pre 911) remember the contract with america? That is the time to reach out to the right because you need their support to get anything done.

Obama will be president with the democrats in control of congress and republican popularity at it's lowest level since watergate.

Now is not the time to seek out republican support, now is the time to fix the mistakes of the last 8 years.

Any you don't do that by getting into bed with a homophobic, anti choice, right wing religious fanatic.

By then again Obama is right at home with religious fanatics isn't he???

Friday, December 19, 2008 07:43 AM

Spare me the "he is representing everyone" agruement

The right wing has been in charge the last 8 years with 2 of them in complete control of every branch of the government.

If Obama really represents everyone then it's time to let the left lead for awhile.

Friday, December 19, 2008 07:47 AM

What world do the Obama supporters live in?

Now they argue the One can mystically change republicans into democrats by giving right wing, homophobes a national platform to sell their hate via books, t shirts, and dvds.

Well if they believe the earth was made in 7 days why not???

When will Obama come out of the closet and admit he is a republican?

CHICAGO – President-elect Barack Obama is nearly finished choosing his Cabinet as he prepares to leave Saturday on a holiday vacation in his native Hawaii.

Obama settled on California Rep. Hilda Solis for labor secretary and former Dallas Mayor Ron Kirk for U.S. trade representative, officials said Thursday. He was ready to introduce Republican Rep. Ray LaHood of Illinois as transportation secretary at a news conference Friday afternoon
