I'll take 51 real democrats over 60 so called democrats anyday

Obama and the blue dogs have sold out on every traditional democratic party value:

1. Civil rights....by blocking every attempt at gay/lesbian equality from gay marriage to DADT.

2. Labor rights....by giving over $700 billion in corporate welfare to the very people who caused the problems instead of using it to retrain workers, allowing them to move to other industries/professions.

3. Civil liberties....by increasing the faith based initiative and placing an anti abortion activist at the HHS department who also opposes every kind of birth control (Alexia Kelley), FISA, etc.

4. Human rights....his embrace of the most abhorrent Bust detention policies and his refusal to close Gitmo, Bagram, etc.

5. Education....Obama's "Race to the Top"

Labor leaders, parsing the Education Department's fine print, call the proposal little more than a dressed-up version of the No Child Left Behind law enacted seven years ago under Obama's Republican predecessor.

"It looks like the only strategies they have are charter schools and measurement," said Randi Weingarten, president of the American Federation of Teachers.

This should please the insurance and pharmaceutical industries anyway

The Kennedy-backed pick for interim senator - a Beltway insider who could enjoy a lifetime pass to the Senate floor - has deep ties to special interests, sitting on a board that oversees a health-insurance provider and having lobbied for the pharmaceutical industry, the Herald has learned.

Kirk, 71, a retired lobbyist and lawyer who lives on Cape Cod, raked in a whopping $250,942 in salary and stock options as a board member for Hartford Financial Services, the umbrella for The Hartford, which sells health coverage to retirees.

Until a successor is elected in January, Kirk would wield a critical vote in health insurance and financial industry reforms, raising concerns about potential conflicts.

"Why in the world would they choose someone who has close ties to the insurance industry?" asked Wendell Potter, a former health insurance exec-turned-whistleblower. He noted the health insurance industry has much to gain in the current reform package, especially if coverage is mandated without competition from a government insurance option, as a bill now before the Senate finance committee proposes.

"This would represent an enormous new revenue stream for the insurance industry," Potter said, adding of Kirk, "On one hand, he certainly would be knowledgeable of insurance issues, and on the other hand . . . there are going to be questions about his objectivity."

Kirk did not return numerous phone calls yesterday. A former partner at the politically wired Hub law firm Sullivan & Worcester, Kirk lobbied for pharmaceutical giants Hoechst Marion Roussel and Aventis in 1998 and 1999, records show.

"So all one can really say about all of this is that while made, something that would have been extremely bad has been averted, at least for now."

sorry but I do not see that as a victory.....it is a temporary reprieve at best, which will be easily reversed before the election of 2010 when democrats will fear being seen as weak on defense.

So Stephanie thinks it is pointless to expose Wall Street corruption because

we've seen it before and it has already happened?

I guess she agrees with Obama that there is no point in prosecuting criminals because we need to "move forward".

Do us all a favor Stephanie and drink your kool aid somewhere else.

Finally some good news.....

Americans who don't identify with any religion are now 15% of the USA, but trends in a new study shows they could one day surpass the nation's largest denominations — including Catholics, now 24% of the nation.

http://www.usatoday.com/news/religion/2009-09-22-no-religion_N.htm?csp=34

PS how much longer are we going to let religion interfere with the government, its policies, and other peoples lives?

Intellectual conservatism is an oxymoron

Pakistan police raid US employed security firm

ISLAMABAD (AP) -- Pakistani police raided a local security firm that helps protect the U.S. Embassy on Saturday, seizing dozens of allegedly unlicensed weapons at a time when unusually intense media scrutiny of America's use of private contractors has deepened anti-U.S. sentiment.

Two employees of the Inter-Risk company were arrested during the raids in Islamabad, police official Rana Akram said. Reporters were shown the seized weapons -- 61 assault rifles and nine pistols. Akram said police were seeking the firm's owner.

U.S. Embassy spokesman Rick Snelsire said the U.S. contract with Inter-Risk to provide security at the embassy and consulates took effect this year. It is believed to be the first U.S. contract for the firm, said Snelsire, who did not have a figure for its amount.

I wonder if

many republicans are turning their anger at having a black republican party chairman toward Obama?

Of course republicans automatically hate democrats anyway.

Have to look outside of US news for the truth

For all Obama's talk of overhaul, the US has failed to wind in Wall Street.

With a blank cheque from taxpayers and no real reform the perverse incentives for risk-taking are bigger than ever.

Original article: Uninsured like me

OH here we go

It's not Obama's complete lack of leadership or refusal to commit to any specific policy, it's racism that is destroying health care reform. Never mind the democrats have huge majorities in both houses of Congress.

As soon as Sotomayor casts her vote on abortion

it will be illegal anyway.

She already held up the global gag rule making it forbidden to even speak the word.
