Horrid student acting, plagarized editing, hamfisted "messages," and a central conceit that could only sound good to underexposed undergrads; hardly worth mention, let alone recognition.
I will be sure to note the names of the filmmakers, if only to protect myself from ever accidentally viewing any of their visual cliches in the future.
I am offended by the idea that liberals must pass some litmus test of Palestinian sympathy. I have been registered Democrat or Green in every election since 1988, and I consider myself a staunch leftist.
That doesn't make me blind to the egregious behavior of the Palestinian leaders or their Arab neighbors. They are like bullies - attacking when they see a weak spot, and crying for sympathy when they are down.
One important thing this article did for me was to point out that Barack Obama has already gone on record expressing concern for the Palestinians. They have plenty of voices lamenting their fate while they send young people to blow themselves up in shopping centers. To have an American president side against Israel as well would be devestating, not only to Israel, but to the delicate balance that keeps Muslim extremism at bay in the western world.
I will look far, far more closely at Obama's views on international policy now. I had seen Barack Obama as the great Democratic hope, but now I must reconsider him as dangerously out of step with America.
