Original article: The czar madness won't end

@calcareous

What powers do you see getting back from czars?

I can think of a lot of other areas besides czars. How about presidental lawbreaking, redition, torture, FISA, and Habeas corpus?

a different tack

What is it all really about? The right isn't stupid. Just create as many distractions as possible- throw shit everywhere. Distract the admin dealing with stupid charges.

The Oligarchs are distracting the serfs. Get the serfs to look everywhere but at the truth. Get the serfs to blame each other and fight among themselves (health care for immigrants) The repugs just happen to be the ones doing their bidding (currently). Don't let them see what's really going on. War revenues, Wall Street looting, banks too big to fail and getting bigger, growing income disparity, falling wages, and of course healthcare reform.

They're not batshit crazy - distractions are all the oligarchs and their minions have right now.

Talk

Obama - talk, talk, talk. Pretty talk, flowery talk, bipartisan talk. Tough talk, serious talk. Talk, talk, talk. Don't do do.

Bush - do, do, do. Sneaky do, illegal do, partisan do. Tough do, mean do. Do, do , do. Don't do talk.

What's better - dodo or nododo???

Battle

Americans on the right fight against their own best interests, the administration fights the progressives on the left - corporate financial interests win. Again, and again and....

Record

Glenn,

That had to set a personal record for most continuous sarcasm!

And it couldn't have been directed at a more deserving target.

@jamiso

You have to read them a few times. It takes a while, but don't ignore them. It's well worth the effort.

Dodd

Slightly OT - but isn't it interesting how the timing of the exposure of Dodd's issues with Countrywide come just before this rushed FISA comprommise. It certainly sets him back on his heels and undermines his public credability just as he might make a big stink next week. Especially, since he vowed a filibuster.

bucks

You come to a FISA thread, but don't know about the Church report. Now you ask for evidence of the Pentagon program.

Quick, somebody throw bucks a new shovel - he's worn his out.

Bucks4

You've betrayed yourself - you are a troll. Iran has nothing resembling a Navy, little more than speedboats- yet you surmise you're smarter than the Generals who "fixed" the war game. You served over there? Hmmmmm? If so, you weren't paying much attention. Don't respond, I won't.

Dream

If only Obama would place a hold when it comes up in the Senate. I'd like to see Reid ignore that.

Then again, I'd also like a pony.

Keep up the great work Glenn- even if it means I have to keep a bottle of tums next to the keyboard.

Better or Worse

Bush is lazy dumb- he just care to take the time to be smart.

McCain appears to be old senile dumb- he just says what comes to mind, and because he said it, it must be true. That is - until someone tells it isn't.

Question

Take away your PC and internet connection. Where would you go to get the truths you learn there? Print? Broadcast? I think not. The great media battle is coming - net neutrality. Once the media corps achieve its demise, then the voices of the likes of GG can be shut down.

Try to enjoy life without it

You can spend most of your free time stoned and enjoy it. However, continously associating relaxation with being stoned can reduce your ability to enjoy times when you're not stoned, and that's a bummer.

Cary's advice is good, as is the one for moderation. Really though, give the cigs the boot, that's a really hard monkey to get off your back.

Glenn - as an IT guy...

Comment by PDA is on the right track. It's not about Apple vs Wintel. It's about an effective backup solution that is so easy to use that you do it every day. Any hardware can fail and reliablity statistics don't mean anything if you're the 1 out of 1 million. Lacking an effective backup solution, you're on the tightrope without a net. I know it doesn't help you now, but something to really think about a little later.

a worrisome sign

IMO , the frightening part of this issue is that McCain has allowed himself to get into it. This really shows bad decision making, a poor evaluation of risk, and a lack of sharp thinkers in the people around him. Whether we like it or not, this guy may end up as our President.

So easily getting himself into this mess is hardly demonstrates the kind of presidental qualities this country needs. Contrast this with how well Obama dealt with Timmy's ambush.

McCain - stupid or calculating?

Could McCain really believe that so closely associating with Hagee would give him his cred with the fundies votes - at the risk getting so directly linked to the intolerance?

It's not risky to alienate the Muslim vote, but Catholics?

I could easily see an ad in the general using this linkage to depict McCain as intolerant toward a significant religious minority in this country.

Ah, but what do I know, I'm just a catholic from Ohio.

No, not for a real journalist. But for the multitude of lazy, ignorant talking heads, yes.
