You know, when he called Doug Feith "the stupidest fucking person on the face of the Earth"? I see some pretty intense competition for that title among the Neocons. And Kagan's certainly done his part here!
But Glenn, you're missing the optimism of that last quote, in the update. Way back then (the weekend), the Iraqis were "mobilized to stop violence." Now, however, things have improved even more: they're fighting to stop violence!
Iraq just keeps getting better and better!
He says of the ice shelf,
In reality it and all the former shelves that collapsed are small and most near the Antarctic peninsula which...lies in a tectonically active region with surface and subsurface active volcanic activity.*
But the active part of the Antarctic peninsula is, well, not really part of the peninsula: it's the South Shetland Islands, about 900 km from the ice shelf in question and separated from the peninsula by a spreading ridge and the Hero Fracture Zone. (Look at image #5 from the BAS page that Andrew links to.) The Antarctic Peninsula used to be a volcanic arc, but went inactive over 3 million years ago. The Shetland Islands comprise the still-active section.
*Note that, after chopping a big piece out, it's still a confusing run-on sentence. Perhaps he needs to learn about commas before taking on global warming.

We will defect to McCain because it's not about sour grapes, it's about the belief that Obama would be a worse president than Bush. [my emphasis]
The more this goes on, the more some of you guys convince me that you're not Clinton supporters at all, but dittoheads taking part in Limbaugh's "Operation Chaos."
Worse than Bush? Christ. Do you really hate your country that much?
Wright will never be as anti-democracy, as subversive, and yes, will never hate America half as much as the Family. And who do you choose to associate with?
...is say, your vote will count more if you have the time to come back and vote again."
Dang right. Those were the rules. And from whom did I learn those rules? From HILLARY CLINTON, speaking at a CLINTON RALLY down here.
And then I went and voted for Obama. Twice.
The Clinton campaign knew the rules, as did Obama's people. Did Clinton lay down and die? Hell no. At my precinct (a working class...no, poor, largely Hispanic precinct), her supporters came out in droves. It wasn't even close: embarrassingly enough for our side, Clinton had about 80%, maybe even 85% of that precinct. I wasn't happy, but that's the game.
Obama just did a better job across the whole state. And that's that game.
There are legitimate criticisms of caucuses, but they do reward those with good organization...something that's kind of key in a general election. I think the whole point of the Texas approach was to split the difference between the two methods, and I can see the validity of that.
At least we didn't try to change the rules all by ourselves, like, ahem, a couple of states I could name.
Quoted on the Blog Report page today is some Townhall.com twit named Patrick Ruffini, who says:
If they [McCain campaign] go further with this civility routine, they risk alienating conservatives in talk radio and the blogosphere who are doing the necessary work of defining Obama and rendering him just as radioactive with the base as Hillary. [my emphasis]
It's worth your while reading the whole post, as an example of wingnut electoral strategery, and a preview of what's coming. Basically, you needs yer Swift Boaters, and you needs yer plausible deniability.
Oh, and I've been seeing a few responses similar to Huckabee's from other RW fundies: "Lay off Obama--hey, shit happens when you're preachifyin'." (OK, not in exactly those terms.) I did not see this reaction coming at all, but hey, I'll take it.
You know what I'm scared of happening in six months? I'm scared of the economy going down a black hole. I'm scared of Iraq or the middle east blowing up even worse. Or hell, even the terror attack that the wingnuts so hotly pray for. Anyone think the Katrina Administration's gonna respond well to, well, anything? No. Unfortunately, you can count on general conditions being worse in September. Nobody's going to give a shit about Rev. What's-his-face then.
You're going to give us endless loops of Wright? Fine, how about endless loops of Cheney:
Attacks in Iraq are increasing
"So?"
63,000 jobs have been eliminated
"So?"
The Turkish army is fighting in Kurdistan
"So?"
Now that's someone with a bit more responsibility for the country's condition. Anybody want four more years of the same?
