60,000 is BS. O'Reilly added a zero.

The real number of (late-term?) abortions Tiller performed is about 6,000. I think that was his own estimate; couldn't find a link just now. Notice how the pro-life/pro-terror people in this thread have already latched onto the number 60,000.

But as the previous poster, and others, have pointed out, 60,000 abortions by one doctor doesn't even make any sense. But you know what O'Reilly says, "I deal in facts."

Except, of course, for that statement.

Oops!

There goes the Asian-American vote, too.

Is there anyone left the Right hasn't insulted lately?

Adding to what Serenia said

The magazine could have inserted Stotmayor into some kind of stereotypical American image that connoted "wise," but instead it used one that sent a very strong message of "foreign."

Good point. What are some typical American signs for "wise?"

An owl.

A professor in full academic regalia.

Rodin's The Thinker. (Yes, I know he's French, but he sent copies of the bloody statue all over the world.)

The Scarecrow with his fake diploma. Now that would have at least been funny.

But they chose this bizarre image. And it's not even a proper Buddha; you never see an image of the seated Buddha wearing that sort of, well, shit-eating grin. Instead, he has a supremely serene face. Or, more rarely, is laughing outright.

More than anything else, it's an inexplicable choice. And note, righties: Vincent didn't lead off by saying it was racist, he said it was baffling.

I guess we simply don't understand you guys any more.

Original article: The Learjet repo man

I gotta get outta this *bad* area

It's true you boys.

@Michigan2008

How was this man a "right wing extremist"? You only know his racist viewpoints, not his political ones.

How about "because he has posted with the name 'RUSH IS RIGHT?'" Would that do? (Click on sig.) That pretty much makes him sound like a card-carrying Dittohead.

But if you think Hitler--who got into power by forming a coalition with other conservative parties, who was supported by German industrialists, and who put Socialists and Communists, but not conservatives, in concentration camps--was a "left-wing socialist," then I don't think much evidence would ever be able to convince you.

American "Elections"

It's kind of hard to have an legitimate election when the Corporate Ayatollahs have to approve you being able to even RUN for President....

And how do we fix that problem? Public funding of elections. It works elsewhere.

The Iranians are going to have to work out their own problems.

What?

both sides of the political spectrum have been arguing over responsibility, and even whether the alleged shooter, white supremicist [sic] James Von Brunn, should be considered a conservative or a liberal.

This is nonsense. We can, unfortunately, argue all day about antisemitism on the right versus that on the left (helloooo, Gordon Wagner!). But neither you nor I, nor anyone else here, has ever met or heard of a left-wing white supremacist. That simply does not compute, and is why this argument is silly and misleading.

The present issue is not some sort of left-right "blame game." Fox News and the rest are not to blame for pushing right-wing views. That is their absolute right. They are, however, guilty of pushing what Charles Krauthammer called, approvingly (!), an "alternate reality." (Click link for quote.)

How can we have a democracy if left and right don't even agree on the factual nature of reality? We can't, and yet the right has spent years denigrating science, shouting down investigative journalism, and trashing academia, whenever these groups have brought any inconvenient facts to light.

This must lead to a split in the populace, one that cannot be healed with discussion. How could it? A deluded right can never be satisfied through the political process. They can only find satisfaction by imposing their will violently. The rightwing media is playing a very, very dangerous game.

Wow. Troll tsunami!

I love the fact that Tiller was murdered in church...The man who shot Tiller was picked by God to rid humanity of this.

No, terrorist supporter, the man who shot Tiller was a murderer and a scumbag.

You abortion crusaders keep telling us Tiller aborted third trimester babies for trivial reasons. But this is illegal in Kansas. You charged Tiller, and yet a jury of his peers found him innocent. You FAILED.

Do you think you can tell lies about your fellow man? There's a commandment against bearing false witness, you know, and you're all gleefully violating it. But that's all right, right? God's on your side, so you're free to spread lies and cheer on murderers.

I realize DePass' family relations may be confusing and all,

what with his parents and cousins being all mixed up, but generally the vast majority of one's ancestors are no longer living.

The gorilla is Michelle's distant cousin, as it is mine, or yours. That includes De Pass.

Come to think of it, though, he might be more closely related to another branch of the evolutionary family tree. Slime molds, perhaps?

PS: "Rusty DePass?" WTF? Is that his porn name or something?

Original article: Bomb Iran -- with love!

'Cause if there are 3 things the Republicans are known for, it's welcoming dissent, free and fair elections, and showing great respect for the Iranian people

Or, respectively, "Free speech zones," Bush vs. Gore, and, of course, "Bomb, bomb bomb, bomb bomb Iran."

Personally, I do not want to hear one word from any damned Republican about hinky elections in Iran. I'm talking to you, Mike Pence, Party of Voter Suppression-Indiana. The Iranians are doing exactly what we should have been doing eight years ago. You Repubs do not want us to take them as an inspiration. You'll never win another election!

@jbird68

The more you feed the lion, the more he'll roar.

I was thinking more of the old reggae lyric:

The higher the monkey climb, the more he expose

which certainly describes O'Reilly.

As for the debate at hand--appear as O'Reilly's screaming target, or avoid him like the plague--I keep going back and forth. I figure if I went on his show, I'd end up pounding on him.

Hmmm. I guess that puts me in favor.

But, really, I think anytime O'Reilly, (or Limbaugh, Hannity ad nauseum) launch a jihad against someone, the first impulse ought to be to call them out into neutral turf, and engage them there. They won't do it? Who's the chicken, then?
