I'm just saying.
Look I've read some pretty mean things on any number of sites about both Senator Clinton and Senator Obama. But I've never seen the Secret Service have to intervene with regards to a candidate's life. Something happened there that made them (thankfully) take it VERY seriously. They're the best at this, if they say it's a real threat, it's a REAL THREAT.
With regards to Mr. Johnson himself he has a very interesting, odd history of his own. Ex-CIA officer, former supporter of Bill Clinton, then opponent, and now in his latest incarnation virulently anti-Obama. Makes one wonder.
With regards to the Michelle tape I stand by my statement. First it was supposed to be just her saying something to a friend on tape, then it was her ranting to someone, now it's evolved into a panel with her and Louis Farrakhan at Reverend Wright's church. Look I'll believe it when I see or hear it. But until then, no. And when even people like Geraldo Rivera aren't buying its existence. . . well you gotta wonder. What's FoxNews waiting for?
Yeah. I check in on sites like that and Taylor Marsh just to see how vile the hatred for Senator Obama can become.
NoQuarterUSA.net recently had death threats against Senator Obama so serious, and apparently disturbing, that the Secret Service has had to step in and investigate.
Here's the warning from that Johnson himself:
"This does NOT apply to 99% of you, however, a couple of lost souls have posted threats against Barack Obama on this blog. Be forewarned, I will turn all threats over to the Secret Service (they are investigating two at this moment). While I don’t believe Barack is qualified to be President, nothing justifies or warrants a death threat. Please play nice."
As for these so-called "Michelle Whitey tapes" or "Michellegate" or "Whiteygate" or whatever the lowest of you hateful, vile, racist Clinton trolls have resulted to calling it I have only one thing to say: It hasn't happened. Period. It is currently 9:43 a.m. EST (Eastern Standard Time.) I will be awake. If these tapes are not up and posted by midnight (which my guess is they won't be since they don't ACTUALLY EXIST) I'm going to return here and remind some of you of it.
Even Geraldo Rivera himself, the worst of the right wing trolls, admitted he doubted if these tapes actually existed and he said if they had someone would have used them by now.
There's one fact I think (could be wrong) many people are missing.
There was no question Florida was only going to get half of it's delegates counted either way. There were two ways to do this: either give each delegate half a vote or, more easily, just cut the number of delegates in half.
The second option would have hurt Hillary Clinton WAY more. For example in a district that had 4 delegates, that Hillary took 75%-25%, she generally would have gotten 3 delegates to Obama's 1. But Obama, by getting that much of the vote, is ensured at least one delegate. Had you simply cut the number of delegates in half, Obama would still have to have his delegate and there would only be 2 total delegates so it would have dropped to 1 delegate for Clinton and 1 for Obama.
Extrapolate that across all the districts in Florida and you start to see how this could really hurt her. The Obama campaign fully supported NOT doing this. Instead they gave each delegate half a vote, thus ensuring Senator Clinton's Florida delegate lead held and she received a substantial 19 delegate lead (the same amount she got over Obama in OH and PA) from Florida.
This is what Robert Wexler conceded to her almost from the beginning. It's why he was so passionate about their concession.
Hence the Clinton campaign then not getting the 4 delegates when it came to Michigan. What Clinton's campaign gave up here was also magnanimous, in the same vein as Obama's campaign's concessions in Florida. Substantial, but nowhere near as substantial as halfing the delegates in Florida would have been. So, in the end, it balances out.
Both sides conceded and compromised. Given that both elections were essentially renegade elections, think the Rules Committee did the best they could and their ruling was extremely reasonable.
Now can we all please start working to ensure that a Democrat wins the White House in 2008 and we beat John McCain in the fall?
It's clear Barack Obama's going to be the nominee at this point. Can we please stop short of Denver? And not blow up the Part? That's an honest question.
Surely the issues are more important than anything. We've GOT to get a reasonable Democratic agenda passed and the Republicans out of office. Their policies are destroying the country. It's time to stand up and make a change.
