Obama picks up another superdelegate

In Bingaman, Obama Bags A Senator, Superdelegate

28 Apr 2008 03:45 pm

Sen. Jeff Bingaman (D-NM) has been in the Senate for 26 years and has bulldogged his way to (near) the top of the ladder in terms of who his colleagues respect.

He has today endorsed Barack Obama

Now as for Wright what he is doing is not trying to "sabotage" Obama what he is doing is illustrating important truths and opening a dialogue.

And my guess is Barack doesn't care. Nor should he.

Some of you around here are so scared of anything that might be remotely offensive that you'd rather go run and hide under the nearest tree or start yelling about "sabotage" and "extremism" and "black separation theology" than have the guts to stand up for what you believe in and challenge the other side.

Look at the Republicans. I consider most of their beliefs (especially their constant attempts to push their religious agenda onto the rest of us) insane. But they win. They win beause they run on their convictions (as wrong as those are.) People like you are so scared you run the "safe" candidate be it Al Gore or John Kerry or Hillary Clinton rather than the person who represents what OUR Party the Democrats REALLY believe (Barack Obama, Bill Bradley) and you constantly lose.

People who stand up for what they believe in win. People who don't lose. Obama knows what we all really know, although apparently some of you have been cowed into not being courageous enough to state it, which is that injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.

This is about winning. And the way to win is to state what you believe in. Barack Obama believes the political system is broken, he believes that taking money from special interests is what poisoned it, he believes the war in Iraq was not only wrong but a huge strategic mistake, he believes you actually have to pass healthcare reform not just scream at others about it and fail (like HRC), he believes we don't need to nuke Iran or start World War III in the Middle East, he believes we owe ourselves and our children a better future and he believes in negotiating in the region.

These are Democratic beliefs. They'd win. Please note everytime a Democrat stands up for what he or she believes in, they're called unrealistic, unelectable, inexperienced and naive. The two previous Democratic Presidents who were constantly painted with this same brush: FDR and JFK.

They were derided and told their platforms would never pass. Other Democrats took to being scared, tried to nominate some other "safer" choice, but the same thing happened then as is happening now: people flocked to the new, "young, inexperienced, naive" candidate who had the guts to challenge the status quo and statew what they believe.

And both FDR and JFK managed to get a liberal agenda passed for the better of this country. If these so-called "safe" Democrats keep running away from our core beliefs and finding whatever candidate manages to only make people in the Rust Belt feel comfortable, not only will we lose the election but the country will continue to have neo-conservative, Republican ideas forced on in for the foreseeable future.

Some of you would run away from the New Deal, Social Security, and the Lend-Lease Program. You would have decried JFK for negotiating our way out of the Cuban Missle Crisis and instead merely "obliterated" them. Hillary Clinton's positions are clearly those of a Republican. Barack Obama's, like Kennedy's and Roosevelts, rely on reasoned judgement, a challenge to the status quo and an attempt to negotiate rather than automatically bomb anyone we don't like into the Stone Age. To me it's a clear choice. And you know what, judging by the number of primaries won, the number of states one, the number of delegates won, and the number of popular votes won, it's a clear choice to the rest of America too: Barack Obama.

Get over it. Or yell Reverend Wright some more, frankly I don't care and it's not going to do you any good. President Obama. Get used to it.

You're darned right he likes Wright

And so should you. If this country is so perfect, maybe we should vote for Bush III.

I'm sorry ARE there no problems with America?

No you, Bush, McCain and Hillary are right. Everything's perfect in this country. Nothing to see here. No disasterous war, no imploding economy, "move along, nothing to see here folks." Bombing of Iran will begin immmediately.

Obviously Hillary Clinton cannot win in November

The outright, blatant sexism she is facing is so horrible, according to her defenders, that she will never get a fair chance and cannot win. Couple that with her husband's baggage, her own failed record on healthcare, her recent statements that she wants to bomb Iran and she should drop out now.

That's the logic you Hillary supporters are basically using.

And, I'm sorry, but last time I checked the superdelegates were flocking to OBAMA not Hillary.

You know why? Because they know what I know. What really makes someone unelectable is not nonsense like this, but 59% UNFAVORABLE, and 65% DISHONEST, ratings which Hillary has NOW not in November.

You Hillary supporters should really quit pushing the unelectable argument. Because all it does is get the superdelegates thinking about WHO is really unelectable. And, as they keep flocking to Obama, the answers as clear to them as the rest of us: Hillary Rodham Clinton is unelectable in November and the Republicans are just praying we run her. Which is why the Democrats with sense are moving to Obama.

Hey cythera (and everyone else incorrectly arguing electability on here) why again are all the superdelegates flocking to Obama?

Because they know what I know. The one who is unelectable is not Obama but YOUR candidate Hillary Clinton.

The Democratic Party's not going near Clinton with a 10-foot pole. Again all arguing about electability does is HURT your candidate because everyone, including superdelegates, are reminded of just how unpopular and just how HIGH Hillary Clinton's negatives already are.

Hence we get more superdelegates to Obama. So please, please keep doing it.
