Don't buy into the right-wing fear card

The worst thing Democrats can do is cower in the corner afraid of the right wing playbook. Those of you who support not repealing DADT always throw marriage in there. Yes, they are two things that we want. But we are not the unreasonable assholes you constantly accuse us of being. If we get DADT we will feel vindicated in giving so much money and time to Obama's campaign. OBAMA is the one who said he would fight to repeal DOMA. We knew this was bullshit. We will continue the legal challenges to DOMA, much to his consternation.

I am so tired of the disrespectful tone of many Democrats when they address gay rights. I see it here and on Huffpo all the time. "The temerity of the gays! They think they should have rights just because it's right and they pay taxes! How dare they!" We don't deserve your sneers. That's also homophobia. African-Americans didn't sit back wringing their hands over Democratic fates, and they were in a far worse position than we are. We certainly aren't going to slow down our advocacy in order to elect Democrats who are happy with the status quo. We will elect better democrats and win in a court of law. You shouldn't ask us to do anything less than hold Obama's feet to the fire. I swear, I think half of you would have been begging Lyndon Johnson not to sign the Civil Rights Act because the Republicans might get mad!

Patience, wrong

2/3 of the American people SUPPORT the repeal of DADT. And you're telling us that we gays are the ones who will cause the Dems to lose the 2010 elections if he moves on DADT? That's simply wrong. We'll never have a better opportunity than now. It's a matter of national security. Call a press conference and stand alongside the gay Arab translators who were dismissed and say this policy must end.

The gay panic boogeyman is getting a little old as a talking point. It is no longer 1994 in terms of gay acceptance. In my state, Ohio, we are bleeding jobs. We lead the nation in foreclosures. We have one of the most progressive Senators, one who voted no to DOMA 13 years ago, who voted no to the war in Iraq, who has an F rating from the NRA. Sherrod Brown is an unabashed liberal who talks about gay rights, including gay marriage, to the voters of Ohio. I think you need to rethink your assumptions that you'll lose "fly over country" if DADT is repealed.

If the Dems lose the midterms in places like Ohio it is because they failed to get a damn thing done to bring jobs, put people to work, reform health insurance or end the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. That's why the people of my state voted for Obama and have a liberal senator. Obama's cautious streak could well get him booted in 2012.

He's gonna sing..."Sold my soul to Wal-Mart for the almighty dollar...."

Wallyworld has exclusive rights to his album? Gee way to go champion of workers rights. I love the idea that his team just didn't do any vetting...Right, Bruce, right. You loved the ass kissing you got when you did that lame "The Rising" album and now you're a famewhore.

Tennis doesn't need a Tiger - It has more than one

Americans didn't seem to care that Fed and Nadal weren't American. The final drew great numbers. TV ratings don't exactly tell the tale in terms of interest. US tournaments draw record breaking crowds every year. Look it up. The sport is one of the most popular in the world. I don't really care if you embrace it or not. We tennis fans aren't like soccer geeks, we aren't begging you to put it on par with baseball.

Federer was the presumptive greatest player of all time coming into 2008...He is every bit as great as Tiger. Then Nadal caught up with him. The future will be bright for Djokovic, who i like (the US media ought to love him, aren't they waiting for a cocksure a-hole?) Beyond that, there are two super players from French who happen to be black. Wait - does that count as a Tiger? Is it the blackness that everybody wants for the men's game? Or is it American & black? Gael Monfis could be a superstar, but since he's French & black he just won't qualify.
