Original article: Dying to be the next Gisele

@jonathanseer-- Get a clue

Jonathanseer, you don't speak for this gay man, nor do you speak for most of the gay men I know. My friends do not spend their time "disgusted" by women sexually any more than lesbians are "disgusted" by men, or heterosexual women are disgusted by other women. They simply are not attracted to them. You need to get some new gay friends, because apparently the only ones you know are bitchy, bitter, jaded, stereotypical queens.

So yeah, go ahead and blame it all on the gay men. We're responsible for all the anorexia and bulimia in the world, just like some would hold us magically responsible for all the failed heterosexual marriages in the world (currently running at about 50% of the total). Wow, we sure are a powerful lot, aren't we? Gimme a break.

What ChristineP said!

Very interesting and informative read!

Kudos to Crystal Renn for finding her niche.

And for the record, this is one gay man who thinks Crystal looks a lot sexier than an anorexic waif. Get a clue. You don't have to want to have sex with her to know she looks gorgeous!

Original article: My evil iPhone

@Alkali: Yes, she's a klutz

I've dropped my iPhone 3G at least 2 or 3 times from waist height, and it's still working fine. I dropped my original iPhone (aluminum housing) from an even higher point, and it kept working fine.

I can't imagine how hard Amanda had to keep dropping her phones to make them stop working. Maybe she just had TERRIBLE luck. Which makes me suspicious of the fact that 1 out of her 4 phones was just defective through no fault of her own. Uh-huh. Sure! What did she REALLY do to that one? The iPhone does have a failure rate, like any electronic device, but it has to be WAY lower than 1 in 4. Again, spectacularly bad luck on poor Amanda's part.

Not really. In sum, she really is a klutz.

Oops.. re: copy and paste

On second thought, the iPhone DOES have copy and paste, as of the 3.0 update. I just haven't bothered to learn how to use it yet, so I guess it wasn't really something I wanted all that badly, after all.

Tongue in cheek or serious?

I agree with the previous poster who posed this question: was she serious? Could you really drop a phone or any other piece of electronic equipment that many times, get it wet, leave it in a car with the outside temperature at 100°F, and expect it to work just fine?

Would anyone keep buying a product that just "would not work" for them 4 times? You've got to be kidding me! Obviously there was something about the product the author loved, just as so many other people either love or at least like their iPhones enough to keep buying them. The notion that the iPhone is easy to damage is completely baseless. No phone could stand up to the author's treatment. In fact, if she had the original iPhone in its metal casing, she would have had to practically throw it against concrete with all her strength to hurt it. (I do miss that aspect of it, but see my comment on call quality below.)

Yes, the data plans are expensive. That's true of all smartphones. Yes, AT&T is not the greatest, but that's not the iPhone's fault. I live in a medium sized city in Alabama and get great reception and only VERY rarely drop calls. In fact, the voice quality improved so greatly when I got the iphone 3G that I couldn't believe it! My friends and family members noticed the difference when I called them, as well.

I find it amusing, the extent to which Apple haters will spend their time ranting in response to an article like this, spreading misinformation about a phone and arrogantly telling us how superior they are to us, for the sheer fact that we have a phone that's a little expensive, that works better than any other phone for browsing the web, and we have the audacity to like it. Keep enjoying your BB's with the physical buttons that will wear out. Frankly I couldn't care less about sending photos via MMS. I would like copy and paste. So no, I don't think the phone is perfect. I don't think most iPhone users think it's perfect. They just think it's the best thing going right now. Apparently some people who DON'T own one feel the need to validate that by making it their quest to flame the phone online at every opportunity. Get lives.

Fascist vs. Communist/Socialist

I, too, have tried to explain to my wingnut Dad that fascists and communists are at diametrically opposed ends of the political spectrum, but he doesn't get it... Sigh!

Original article: Disappointed by Rick Warren

Very disappointed here, too

I gave money to the Obama campaign... a first for me! It won't happen again, unless and until he somehow makes this up to those of us who are pro-gay rights and pro-choice, although I'm sure I'll vote for him again, given similar alternatives. The Obama sticker is coming off my car today, too. I can wish him well and hope that he'll reach out to the left and not just the right, but I won't hold my breath.

@ Natty-J

Smug much?

A lot of people might say that NYC is a "shithole" compared to more humane and liveable places such as San Francisco or Seattle. I guess it's all relative. At any rate, your gratuitous slam of places with definite issues and with lots of real, law-abiding citizens, many of whom are struggling, makes you look like a plastic, judgmental twit. Is the mere fact of being in NY supposed to make you a more evolved, enlightened being?
