Joan Walsh is correct when she writes that there are many reasons to think twice about the United States Senate seating a narcissistic political hack like Roland Burris. However, and quite inconveniently, Burris has the letter of the law on his side.

The Democratic Party of Illinois had the opportunity to file for an injunction to block Rod Blogojevich's privilege to appoint the person to fill the last two years of Barack Obama's Senate term; it failed to do so. Refused to do so. Why? Because the next logical legal step would have been to hold a special election, which may have led to a Republican replacement.

Democratic myopia on the state and national levels has led the United States into a netherworld where a cause for celebrating the election of our first black President has backfired into a disgusting mess.

The result, alas, is a net loss for black political leadership. Based on this fiasco, why would anyone vote for another black man in Illinois or anywhere else?

Gary Kamiya and many other Israel haters fail to establish and acknowledge one true fact in all of their vitriolic writings: never, not once, not in the history of human civilization, has there ever been a sovereign nation named "Palestine".

Palestine is to the Middle East what neighborhoods like Harlem or Queens or Hells Kitchen is in New York; what Galewood or Albany Park or Hyde Park are in Chicago; what Watts or South Central are in Los Angeles. They're neighborhoods within cities. They are not cities unto themselves.

Israel has been a sovereign nation since before the Old Testament was written before the time of Moses.

The only countries in the modern world who have attempted to establish a free standing and democratic Palestinian country of, for, and by the Palestinian people have been Israel and the United States. For this effort, both countries have been vilified, spat upon, and terrorized by the jihadists who use Palestinians as cannon fodder in their never ending war of hatred.

Until and unless radical Islamic jihadism is rebuked by all Muslims everywhere, nothing will change. Unfortunately, the goal of radical Islamic jihadism is for all of us to die.

I was married into an Austrian family for 20 years. I heard my share of revisionist history about WW 2 and the Holocaust. Everything from, "It wasn't as bad as they say", to, "Hitler was a hero, the Holocaust never happened, and the Jews run America". Needless to say, I'm divorced from that family now.

Similar revisionist history is already being spewed by the Rush Limbaugh crowd: everything that's gone wrong during the past decade is Bill Clinton's & Barack Obama's fault!

George Orwell couldn't write this BS. Guys like Limbaugh & Gallagher and witches on wheels like Ann Coulter and Laura Ingaham are actually blaming the mess we're in on Clinton & Obama!

Don't get me wrong; I'm all for loyal dissent. But polarizing distortions that have no basis in fact is irresponsible at best and perhaps even treason. Appealing to the morons may get the pitchforks and the torches marching toward the castle, but it doesn't do anything to build bridges or pave roads.

George W Bush is walking out the door handing a steaming bag of flaming horse manure to Obama. We all owe it to him and to ourselves to see if he was wise enough to bring a fire extinguisher.

Let us all be very clear what we are talking about here. Six million Jews are surrounded by a billion people who have sworn to die in the act of murdering them. They say their bastard god, "allah", has ordered them to do this.

There is no negotiating with such dementia. There are no options. For the Israelis, there is only kill or die.

What would you do if you stepped into a steaming pile of dog doo? OK. You're a sane, rational American adult. You'd take your shoes off and find a place to hose them off. You'd rid yourself of the filth and the stench ASAP.

Unless, of course, you were an Illinois voter. If you're an Illinois voter, you lick the shitty shoes clean and ask for more. Upon the notification that there's no more shit to lick, you holler "RACISM!!"
