There's possibility 6...

...which is that part of your life has gotten out of your control like drugs, gambling or sex.

I'm in middle of getting out of something similar.

You need to make a clean break. Pull out the checkbook, call a housekeeping company, and spend a few hundred dollars. (If you're worried about losing valuable things, get them to put your stuff into bags and spend an hour a night going through the bags.)

Then *set up a system* and swear you'll never do it again. And look back in two weeks -- and a month -- and make sure that your desk is always clear at the end of the day and your work area is always empty. A place for everything and everything in its place!!

you really want to live this way?

http://www.intp.org/intprofile.html

The general style of the home is largely irrelevant. When an object is put aside, not to be returned to for a while, it will lie fully ignored until used again. Objects which lie unmoved for more than about 48 hours usually become invisible to the INTP, until such time as he has a use for them again. For other temperaments whose need for tidiness and order in a house is strong, this lack of concern in this area may seem despairing. For the INTP, however, no problem exists. Corners of rooms, table tops and cupboards may become cluttered with objects, but while they don't move they remain effectively invisible and are unimportant.

Just because there's a website about it, doesn't mean it's right.

By their fruits you shall know them.

I'm sure that not all the population of South Carolina is like this.

But please, remember the hundreds of thousands of dead in the Middle East -- and remember that many people in SC continue to support this genocide and are proud of the despicable Bush who caused this and so many other terrible calamities.

Remember, too, that we didn't start the name calling. We've had over a decade of Republicans calling us the most vile names, condemning our compassion as stupidity, our sense of responsibility as cowardice, our tolerance for people different to us as decadence and moral evil.

Remember finally that their name calling worked extremely well. Tens of millions of Americans bought into it so well they continue to be unable to see us "liberals" as anything other than spineless criminal perverts. Their name calling has suppressed our reasonable voices.

If people choose to act en masse as murderous, ignorant bigots, if they make and reaffirm over years choices that lead to hundreds of thousands of deaths, they really deserve what they get.

Now, perhaps it's bad tactics or bad strategy for us. That's a very reasonable argument and I'm not sure of the results.

But we have *every moral right to call out these willfully ignorant murderers of the Right for their crimes* and don't try to tell us otherwise.

Abortion "normal"?

Let us hope not, and that regular contraception continues to be the "normal" form of birth control.

My father said it rightly, "Each abortion is a tragedy, but usually one that prevents a much greater tragedy."

RU-486 is definitely a good thing in the balance: but even more we need better education about contraception.

Get well soon!

I hope you really aren't taking *all* those drugs, though, they'll get to ya. A hot shower or bath, some eucalyptus in hot water in a washbasin, these are just as good and don't have the nasty side effects.

As I said, get well soon!

"So are we bombing Iran yet?"

Let me clue you in. Sometimes, we warn about things that *might* happen that would be bad -- so that vile assholes like you don't *do* those bad things!

Do you now understand, M. l'Imbecile?

arg, this is not so believable!

I don't buy this one bit. The main issue is that aluminum is complete recyclable -- with even a practical, industrial system, you can reclaim over 99% of the aluminum you put in.

To the best of my knowledge, over half of all the plastic bottles that get put into "recycling" don't get recycled. A lot of the ones that do don't really get recycled, but used in a second, but terminal form like road surfacing.

I personally don't drink soda at all -- at least partly because of the waste. When I purchase drinks, I always try to get glass -- not just the waste, but the taste!

I've lived in New York for 25 years....

and Giuliani is the worst mayor EVER -- worse than Dinkins, who at least made the streets safe again.

So glad he's getting his come-uppance!

Hello, Alex -- congratulations!

We're already familiar with your work so the War Room will be in good hands.

I'd suggest NOT changing the name, though -- at least until we aren't at war with our own politicians....

Original article: We're failing our kids

Please -- do us all a favour -- talk to some teachers.

The reason to throw away No Child Left Behind is because it's terrible for the kids.

The test is huge and relies mainly on memorization. Which means that teachers have to spend a large chunk of the year getting their kids to memorize crap that they could look up in two seconds on the internet. And if the kids do badly then they *cut* resources from the failing schools.

Please. Talk to a loving and talented teacher. They'll tell you that "No Child Left Behind" is the worst thing ever to happen to schools in the United States.

Please understand me. I'm very very big on fundamentals. I think kids should actually learn their times tables by rote! I think kids should learn how to read and how to spell and how grammar works and how science works and how to paint a picture. I read books every day and it's worked for me really well!

I do not think kids should spend their lives memorizing which box to colour in in a multiple-choice standardized test.

Please, Garrison -- we think you're great. Reconsider your ill-considered opinion, we'll think even better of you for it. Fundamentals are great, literacy is great, kids are great, but No Child Left Behind is fundamentally bad for all of them.
