I've thought about it some more and I've come to the conclusion that Russert was just being a 'good guy'.
IF the 'we the people' in the constitution would have made life harder for him and confronted him and all of the other so called journalist members of the Bush adulation club AND they reacted by being a door mat for those in power, then he would deserve heaps of scorn.
He was just a tool. Like an eight year old boy in awe of the adults around him and trying to be helpful and a friend of theirs and be 'in the group'. He didn't want to be shunned or outcast by those in power. He liked the smell of POWER and the aura of being POWERFUL. Throwing people's names and their lives around like cord wood. Plame comes immediately to mind.
Absolute power corrupts absolutely and it sure does.
Perhaps he knew what a service he played for the ruling elite of this once great nation, perhaps he didn't. If he didn't then he was a fool, if he did then he was an asshole but there are so many of both inhabiting offices of once powerful 'news' organizations.
He's dead. The powerful will have to find another tool to use for their purposes. Too bad there are literally legions of tools standing at the ready.
But IF the people were more angry and IF the people were DEMANDING better from these frauds and not getting it then maybe things could have been different. We are on the eve of a major FISA cave-in by the democrat tools in the House and where are the people? Blogging? What use is that when the real world demands personal attention. Harass Nancy Pelosi and the other self described ‘democrats’.
(On a tin foil hat bent: heart attacks are easy to cause in people. I'm just saying...)
I tried to contact her office and got this in return:
Thank you for contacting my office.Congressional courtesy prevents me from replying to emails if I cannot determine that you are a constituent of mine. If you are not a resident of California's 8th Congressional District and are contacting me in regard to my role as Speaker, please email me at AmericanVoices@mail.house.gov.
If you are a resident of the 8th District of California, please contact my office in Washington, DC at (202) 225-4965 to be added to our database.
'Congressional courtesy'? 'Resident of the 8th'? Listen you craven bitch! What you are about to do DIRECTLY EFFECTS ME AND THE REST OF THIS COUNTRY and you can hid behind 'Congressional courtesy' all you want but so far the only 'congressional courtesy' I've seen is you giving the despotic Bush and GOP every freaking thing they've wanted!!!
'Representative government'. Who the hell are you representing when you cave in? Lady Liberty isn't a 5-dollar hooker willing to raise her skirt for anyone that meets her 'high price' but obviously you are!
And all that talk about valuing the constitution is just pillow talk... FUCK YOU!! YOU 2-BIT WHORE. Maybe it IS you that should move to Iraq. Bush needs politicians like you over there too. Don't forget your rubber stamp.
The problem, as pointed out by an earlier commentator, is that voting her carcass out of office isn't enough of a threat. She can then pick and choose amongst many offers for her 'intellect' amongst the sheltered halls of the 'think tank' elite. Those vacuous empty heads that think they know what's going on and are paid for their worthless opinions. Hell, the people of the California 8th would be doing her a favor. I'm sure the offers are already pouring in...
