I know people that are frightened by the show '24' who want MORE government in our daily lives because if they do it on teevee, it can be done anywhere. Considering that '24' is a Fox creation one can make the connection. '24' also actively uses and therefore supports ruthless torture. Nice touch.
Communist manifesto? Is that the Patriot Act or the Defend America act?
More guns is not the solution!
Putting guns in everyone's hands is reckless and stupid. Why arm pilots when the doors are so fortified? Why arm pilots when they just have to land at the nearest airport, government or civilian.
Arming pilots is just another pointless gesture from those that value pointless gestures as a way of life to distract us from the other things that they do. Example: while the economy is crumbling our government passed a law to make the 'in god we trust' larger on our currency. Gotta keep that falacy of America being a christian nation going while we killl each other with our handguns.
Real heady stuff this governing must be. Pander to the doe eyed masses and ignore the entire crisis. Oh and there could be a 'ten commandments week' and 'religion day' soon to. And people wonder why congress gets such low marks. If their answer seems to throw guns and religion at people, duh, do you really need more reasons?
What I'm waiting for is the first time that a wacked out pilot pulls that gun and takes out the other pilot and crashes the plane. You know it's going to happen. Then our brain trust in congress will pass more gestures and take them back out (or would they. It would run counter to the 'guns for everybody' GOP/NRA mantra).
Painting the 'centrist' lipstick on the McCain pig is the best they have.
But didn't they do the same with Alito and Roberts for the SCOTUS?
Only by lying and being devious can a republican win these days, or so it seems.
I imagine the buyers remorse is going to be monumental if McCain does manage to squirm and ooze his way into the presidency.
Already Crooks and Liars has an article this morning about the RNC's over the top slam of a Dean press release on McCain. They are trying the victim ploy as if attacking a grandfatherly figure that is a crabby idiot is a bad thing.
He's pro-war, he's decidedly less than knowledgeable on the economy. He seems like a better fit for Sec of Defense than president but perhaps he can fill both positions.
McCain is about as centrist as the point on the end of a pendulum, and sticks to his position with nearly the same degree of accuracy...
It's difficult to believe that in a post-9/11 world that this is the best the RNC can come up with...
Looking at the House side is interesting. There is someone in New Jersey and Indiana who have lifetime ratings of 100%.
It's interesting looking state by state and see ratings in the sub 10% in a heaping mess of them over 80%.
Makes me wonder...
On the senate side, Stabenow is rated at 12% and I already can't stand her. It's been the big issues that she's supported in the past.
Yeah ha...
These are examples of McCain's bipartisan centrism:He was a member of the Gang of Fourteen on judicial nominations.
He co-sponsored McCain-Feingold.
He was instrumental in the final compromises on the bill creating the TSA, compromisingly with Democrats to allow the TSA to be made a union shop (read - future Democrat contributors).
He co-sponsored the loosely-configured Kennedy-McCain compromise package on immigration reform.
That was the older and younger McCain. The more idealistic and pragmatic McCain.
I think that the new and older McCain focused on winning with a death grip wouldn't come to within 20 feet of most of that legislation today. I'm surprised that he isn't disavowing it right now.
His poor neck. To have snapped that far so fast. At his age. That must be some strong glue holding his head on...
Unless a candidate is willing to attack the GOP/RNC/Bushists HARD and actively work to make 'conservative' the laughing stock it truly is then they don't deserve to be running.
Whoever wins (as long as it's not McCain) HAS to take the GOP/RNC/Bushists on FACE TO FACE and work to expose and dismantle the rube goldberg machine that the Bushies have created. There has been so much law breaking and illegality that it could take 12 years to clean it all up but SOMEONE HAS TO DO IT!
That is why I don't back Hillary. She won't do that. She doesn't have the guts or the common sense to see the dire need to do it.
She would move in to the Blight House and not buy a bottle of Lysol or crow bar to clean up America. She will move in and think that it's so cool that she can spy on whomever she wants (and it won't be the Bushies, Cheneyites or the Roveians).
I fear that no election in the past 100 years is as important to America and the rest of the world than this one and it's not looking very good... Not good at all.
