My representative, Dave Camp (republican NRA brown nose) probably voted for that piece of crap legislation.
We've had words. I objected to his backing of looser gun laws due to the multitude of murders that have happened in my home town (south east of his home town) and he said that 'everyone should be able to own a handgun and he is there to make sure that the government doesn't take guns away from citizens.
Well, the handgun murder rate in his hometown is a hell of a lot lower than mine.
He, and the various gun nuts in congress, both state and federal, believe honesty that everyone should be able to carry a gun everywhere!
In hospitals? No problem. In a bus? No problem. In a high school? No problem (remember Columbine after all). In a church? No problem. In a plane? No problem. In a college classroom? No problem. In a bar? No problem. In a movie theater? No problem. (Most of those are against the current Michigan carry law, BTW)
I have watched movies of the 'Olde West' and I'm not impressed. Putting guns in everyone's hands isn't going to stop handgun violence it's going to make it worse.
Discharging a handgun on a plane isn't a good idea. Sure MythBusters proved that taking out a window won't suck all the fat people off the plane but shooting out the electronics bay or those hydraulics lines isn't going to make is easier to fly the plane and that's when the shit hits the fan.
Place a stressed out pilot in a situation where a handgun has gone off in the cockpit (and hopefully not killed anyone in the cockpit) and add the stress of having to control a plane with certain instruments or functions limited or removed and you have the recipe for a really bad ending and a huge hole drilled into the ground.
Remember that Iowa crash? I'm sure that it took all that pilot could muster to calmly think through the situation and think of the best way to deal with it. They thought out of the box but then they had time to think. The plane was relatively stable in flight.
Guns and planes don't mix. Putting guns in the cockpit, loaded guns, marks me as not a gun nut and NRA sycophant and that's alright with me.
Heck, we even had a state politician that introduced a bill to allow mentally handicapped Michigan residents to apply for a carry permit (Michigan is a 'shall issue' state) and request hunting licenses! Ok, like a cerebral palsy victim is going to be carrying a Glock 19 in my town. Yeah. they need it, right...
Despite what teh idiots of the NRA crowd like to trumpet, gun control is a little more than 2 hands...
The most under investigated total failure of the government in the history of government save the Pearl Harbor attack.
There were close to 300 WARNINGS from many areas before 9/11/2001!
300 WARNINGS!!!
Ashcroft started flying government jets a week before.
Military leaders were advised to not fly that week.
No planes were dispatched and when sent up were sent the wrong direction.
Anti-aircraft batteries were deployed around the hotel that Bush stayed at for his Florida junket the day before. (a 'marked departure from common procedure')
9/11/2001 is the biggest lie that the government has foisted on us since who knows when.
The Bush administration and the republican party have total liability for the attack on 9/11 and they have skated out of the spotlight so very well.
It's disgusting and insane to now say that if Bush had the ability to spy on all of us, he could have 'prevented' the attacks.
That's pretty strong stuff coming from a government official who should know better. I think that the 9/11 attack was to Iraq like Pearl Harbor was to the Japanese.
Either that or Bin Laden is a genius and look at all the wreckage he has done to our laws, constitution and international image, not to mention the incredible amount of war profiteering that has gone on...
9/11 has been the best mind job in the history of the world!
Some extremist guys with a chip on their shoulder hijacked 4 planes and brought the United States of America to its knees
OR
Several world governments conspired to allow it to happen to accomplish their as yet not totally discovered goal(s).
Saudi Arabia, Israel, The UAE, Egypt, Pakistan, China, Russia, Australia and England. How many other countries have benefited from 9/11?
Halliburton/KBR, Bechtel, Boeing, Raytheon, Iridium, Exxon/Mobil, Fox News, AT&T, Verizon, Panasonic (Toughbooks), Dell, Microsoft, NCL, travel trailer manufacturers, ice suppliers, Lockheed/Martin, etc (on too long a list) have made millions and billions off George W. Bush's crusade against the boogie man.
Social security is in the crapper, healthcare is a sad joke, education in America is nearing third world status and more people believe in the easter bunny and an earth centric solar system than ever before.
We have been snookered by the lying liars.
And now Bush wants to give the giver of huge bailouts even more power to bestow our money on those poor Wall Street crooks?
Bush's reign started out on lies ('w' keys') and will end on lies (attacking Iran?) and 9/11/2001 IS the locus of control and they know it. So much has been built on it. There is a lot to lose if a democrat becomes president. More particularly Obama. Playing the fear and emotion is all they can do.
It's been 'feel don't think' since the day Bush took over.
That's all they have but it's a powerful tool and they can contain it, so far.
A complete investigation of 9/11? Probably has about as much if a chance as investigating anything else that has happened since he took office: 0
But keep the tears going...
