From Crooks and Liars, look who is leaping on the entrails...
Given the humiliating difficulties facing the National Republican Congressional Committee, I guess it’s not too surprising the gang would try to connect Democratic House candidates to Eliot Spitzer’s scandal, but this is just weak. The NRCC, which is broke and in danger of sustaining more
House losses, is grabbing at the Eliot Spitzer prostitution
scandal like a lifeline, sending out e-mails about Dem
incumbents with the following title:
“Will John Hall Return Spitzer’s Sleazy Money?”
So far we’ve received five e-mails over at TPM: Three
messages targeting freshman incumbents Michael Arcuri,
Kirsten Gillibrand and John Hall, plus two against
challengers Dan Maffei and Eric Massa, all of whom the
NRCC says are now “ensnared” in Spitzer’s scandal.
To appreciate just how sad this is, consider that The Corner is dismissing it as nonsense: “Spitzer’s moral turpitude has no bearing on the contributions he makes to candidates in his party. Unless the money was stolen, its return is a public relations exercise with no basis in moral reality.”
It still smells of a politically motivated lynching.
The question is, other than losing his job and being convicted of a minor federal offense, will there be any other avenues of redress available for those he crushed as the Attorney General of the State of New York?
Never under estimate the party that hyperventilates over others failings but covers up their own.
Elliott should announce that he has prayed about this with his wife. She has forgiven him and so has God and he is moving on with his life. He will not resign.
See how well that plays to the party of hypocrites...
And ozziebear? Right on dude. I remember in the Clinton mess the French couldn't figure out what the fuss was about. Neither could I. I still wonder if Monica was a plant. It was all too convenient, but whatever. The issue was between the three of them. I read an article once that detailed all of the hypocrites that were piously calling for Bill's head. The whole lot of them made his 'crime' look like such a minor issue. Hell, the majority of those hypocrites could have been run out of town on a rail themselves. Plus now with the Vitter and Craig (et all) sagas played out, hanky panky with an intern seems so blasé, so normal, so natural... Maybe that's what made it so bad for those that focused on it, there wasn't any money changing hands, no forced and painful sex. They couldn't relate to it. Consensual sex in the White House after Bush I? W00T!!!
This willingness to exploit others failures when your own are worse is interesting that it works so well for the republicans.
And I thought that the media embedding started and ended with the early War on Iraq...

Clinton link in Ethanol probe.
Ohhhhhhhh... Bill Clinton advised a company that invested in a Brazilian company that mistreated their employees.
Similar to Abramoff, but different. I'm sure that somewhere, in some dank musty basement, there are plans being hatched for a lengthy investigation to 'find the truth'...
Is this a warning shot across the bow of the Democratic Party by the republicans?
Showing how low and deep they are willing to further pervert the laws of this country to get their puppet installed as president. (As if Hillary's recent performance has made things harder for them)
This whole thing stinks to high heaven but you just have to wonder, and just like 9/11/2001, there are so many coincidences and 'strange actions' for it just to be a spur of the moment incident.
They have been planning to take Spitzer down for years.
To watch MSNBC's Wall Street siren talking to some 'Wall Street people' you could see their glee and gloating in this nasty prosecution. Many people, many cruel, nasty, evil, rich and politically connected people are very ecstatically happy over this 'convenient' prosecution... And the message seems clear. Since Cheney now has full access to the 'Justice' Dept inner workings, I wonder if his fingerprints aren't all over this thing.
Once again, Lady Liberty is prostituted for the pleasure of the GOP.
Any of the 'journalists' making the connection between the stock market rally and Spitzer being 'prosecuted'? Wait for it...
It will be interesting to see what the Rove wing of the Bush party will expect from the new governor of New York. They, and Elliott's stupidity, are the reason he now has the governor's office.
Elliott's crime is in not realizing (or perhaps he did) that his every motion and gesture was going to be under a microscope by the local New York branch of the Bush party. He perhaps didn't realize the extent of a grudge that the Bush party base could and do have against him. He should also not believe that the score is settled. It's only just begun.
Usually the Bush party wants you taken to a level that you can't even reach down to pick up spare change on the sidewalk.
Political paybacks in the land of the Bushists and Rove-oids is one of the things they live for, especially if slick Dick is involved...
I remain surprised that Abramoff is still alive but then again, he could still prove useful to the Bushists...
