They've treated our rights like the laws against lobbying and 'revolving doors' in Washington: Do as we say, not as we do...
Look at that satellite situation. A billion dollar satellite is screeching towards earth. First it's empty (that's why they can't control it) well then it's full of fuel (the computer died), then it's the size of a small car and weighs 'around a thousand pounds' and now it's larger than a school bus and weighs more than 5,000 pounds. First the idea to shoot it down is because it's a 'secret satellite' and now it's because the Pentagon is concerned about the 'loss of human life'. They were angry at China for their 'test' and now act surprised (and say 'trust us' to the Russians) when other nations are shocked at the Pentagon's idea to 'shoot it down' (it's not a weapons test. Trust us).
From the 'w' keys on those keyboards when they took over to 9/11/2001 and the anthrax to signing statements and the attorney firings to the FISA legislation and literally hundreds of thousands of other things one thing shines crystal clear: You can't, and no nation should, trust the Bush administration or the United States of America on ANYTHING.
Cointelpro anyone?
I try to picture myself as the CEO of AT&T. I'm doing a piss poor job of running the company. The stock price is tanking. It looks like my days are numbered.
Well, along comes the sniveling twit, George W. Bush, and he says what to get me to willingly and with abandon, break the law and violate the constitution.
I'm the CEo of AT&T remember. The board hates me, mostly. The stockholders aren't happy either. I have nothing to loose.
I do it.
I'm asured that the 'Justice Department' is under the control of whom? Dick Cheney? Uh huh... That the courts are filled with key judges at the lower levels that can provide interference on the issue. They can cause enough fog and chaff to distract and hopefully contain the groups trying to stop and/or expose the administrations dealings in this breathtaking and incredible violation of the laws of this country.
It's becoming apparent that there are not three branches of government. Just one: Bush. Much has been expended on setting him and his administration up to be able to survive this and many more legal, ethical and moral problems.
Too much to risk the '08 election going to a democrat, a 'true' democrat. A non-Hillary, non-DCCC democrat.
I wouldn't want to be the none left standing after this is over.
Bush and that McConnell loon in congress have openly threatened the United States with an attack of epic proportions, one that will far surpass 9/11/2001. I would take them at their word. The republicans need fear and bigotry and hatred to win this one. That and another desperation pass from the 'supreme' court?
There is no question that Bush is guilty of 'high crimes and misdemeanors' which would warrant immediate impeachment but with them actually running the Department of Justice and Congress (thanks in part to those idiotic 'blue dog' republicrats and Harry Reid) there is about as much of a chance of that happening as me turning into Paris Hilton.
I fear the future. Not because of what Bush says will happen but what his party needs to do to keep the country in 'friendly hands'... McCain, for whatever reason has waken up all 'Manchurian candidate' style and will not be any better than the Bush years. He doesn't have it in him... He's beaten and broken.
If someone wanted to destroy the Democratic Party, wouldn't they follow almost the exact course that the 'democratic' 'leadership' has taken?
Bush has created a totalitarian Bushist state where everything that shouldn't or couldn't be done to 'we the people' is, has and will be done.
How long until this 'juicy' intelligence is used to 'disappear' American citizens in the morass of the political/prison complex?
We the people have already lost habeas corpus, the right to face our accusers, the right to see all evidence presented against us, the ability to be free in our daily activities, the freedom of having government snoops rifling through our underwear drawers and bank accounts and credit records. Even what food we eat on a plane is supposed to be reported to the great overseers in government. Even our prescriptions are reported to the government.
How far are we from 1984, Brave New World, Fahrenheit 451, THX 1138? Not as far as we think.
As soon as corporate ownership of all of the data that travels on and through corporate owned conduits (internet, telephone, wireless) is codified then the corporations and by extension the government WILL own our very souls and our ability to exist and control our lives to an extent that all the above named terrifying viewpoints into 'a world turned upside down' haven't come close to imagining.
Yes, it CAN happen here. It can happen anywhere where the leaders of the people succumb to greed and arrogance. And yet the people slumber...
