You can't do both.

Imagine Adolph Hitler being given a podium to speak during the convocation of a leader for the UN.

Unless someone came right out after he was done and cleansed the area of his puss filled existence, giving him the podium would be giving him support.

The fact that Obama isn't aware enough to realize this is stunning...

Is he that inept or that deluded to operate in this manner. One has to wonder as to his judgment. Is this on par with McCain choosing Palin for VP?

Original article: Ask the pilot

Hmmm..

What I object to are the obscene wages paid 'management teams' and they way the average employees are treated by these corporations.

Demanding concession and more concession and yet pouring more cash and benefits onto the people driving the corporations into bankruptcy is just too galling for me.

I have nothing against a pilot making mid/high six figures as they have my life in their hands and they need their full attention on their jobs, plus the rules that limit their time in their job able to make money.

Take the condition of the airlines and their equipment too. We are flying in winged cattle cars. I fly Northwest because they are the only large carrier that flies into my home airport and to say the conditions are 'spartan' is being kind. THe planes are often filthy. There is nothing on the order of 'entertainment' and what is there is often months old and occasionally filled with sticky pages. 'Food' has taken on a whole new, and alien definition. And more and more you have to carry wads of cash (correct change only) for things like stale water, dessicated rolls and now even blankets and pillows on some carriers. The odd conscientious carrier that caters to a real traveling person is usually destined for bankruptcy.

America seems driven to reward illogic and stupidity in the operations of business these days. Wall Street, who by any measure manufactured the current economic disaster is getting heavily rewarded for their efforts at ruining the economy. The auto companies have played their part. They have decimated the middle class and unions as their part of the plan. The air carriers have also helped America plummet to the ground. We get no respect, no honesty, no truth because we will settle for less.

There was a time when, like Lehman, really bad decisions meted out a cost. You screw up really badly and you are unemployed. Now, if you are 'of the (political) body', you get billions, nay trillions of dollars reward for playing your part...

Should the airlines get 'free' money? Only if it goes to pay for maintenance and meaningful oversight.

Will the carriers 'follow Detroit to the troughs'? You betcha... *Wink* Will Bush fill their bags with lots of 'free cash'? I wouldn't bet on it but they are in the rewarding mood...

Original article: "Yes Man"

But!

You are damning Carrey for being an egotist?

Strong egos are what make comedians who they are. Who but a strong egomaniacal person could stand in front of a group of drunken mouth breathers and crack jokes and act like a person devoid of sense and reason.

Hate him for being rich. For dumping a bevy of hyper-cute young women. For being an over actor but knocking him for being an egotist? That's like hating an apple because it's fruit...

Original article: Disappointed by Rick Warren

But!

But you can't be 'logical' and 'believe the bible'.

It would be like a group of people wanting to base their lives on 'stranger in a strange land' or the 'fellowship of the rings' trilogy.

There is no logical base for believing the bible, that could be just a novel or a mechanism for exerting control over groups of people. Hell, since no one really knows the true purpose of the bible and who wrote it and why, it has about as much relevance to this point in our society as picking up a random piece of paper off the floor in a publishing office.

People that 'live the bible' are devoid of logic. People that claim to 'live the bible' and hate gays and blacks and liberals and social security and taxes and books and music and movies and dancing are people that should be locked up and not people that should be able to get the support of anyone else in public.

If Obama was the candidate that the majority of America wanted, he's have the Dalai Lama do the invocation and have dissidents from across the world speak too.

I fear that this choice isn't political and that this sets a tone for the 'kinder fascism' of the Obama administration. So determined to not 'make waves' and appear 'centrist', Obama will fall victim to his own rhetoric.

He has not only thrown teh gays 'under the bus'. He has thrown himself under it too... And Limbaugh was worried about the future...

P.R.

In spite of the public relations campaigns, no one could argue that organized religion has had a very profoundly negative effect on humanity throughout the totality of human history. We appear to be heading into a resurgence of the 'dark ages'. hang on, it's going to be a bumpy ride.
