You know, I love Apple.
Sounds like I'm an abused spouse, eh...
I have something like 8 ipods. I have actually four macs. I forgot the mini I bought on an impulse.
They actually rock my world but no computer is error free. The errors just happen faster now.
I wish I had an eight way xserve. I have a 4 way Sun. Not the same. It's Apple envy... I live with my addiction and put up with the down side because the upside is so damn good.
I anxiously await the rumoured ultra-portable MacBook Pro and the 3G iphone which I'll buy the first day it comes out (locked or not).
I'm glad I don't have to resort to a life of crime to support my Apple addiction. Is it as potent as cocaine? May be...
I thought that I'd be 'smart' and get the LG dual format disc player. Woooaah there big fella... The LG player sells for (at the time) a penny under one thousand dollars! WOW!!! =8-O
I have an ND tv that doesn't have HDMI so I guess I wait until I can spring for BOTH a new tv AND a DVD player. Yeah, that will happen soon. It's amazing what you can live without (except Apple Macs) when you have other priorities (Macs)...
So much about so little.
I worked at a Team Electronics many decades ago. From year to year, I noticed that the only thing that changed from one year to another is the position of the knobs. Well, not changing connectors is a different way to screw people.
I'll sit out the neuvo DVD wars... Hell, for now I'm still looking for a Wii.
Finally someone gets it!
This is almost like saying that capitalism, as it is currently constructed, doesn't work.
What we suffer from at this point can be termed 'runaway capitalism' which is operating like a cancer that is eating away at the economic 'body'.
I'm afraid that the fix will end up hurting more than chemotherapy and the pain will likely last for decades. But short sided decisions generally do produce long term pain.
Bush's 'stimulus' package will likely be like his falsetto 'Bring it on' and result in a faster decline but why should he care. When 'poppy' and 'moms' dies the removal of the 'death tax' (a symptom of the cancer) will benefit him enormously.
And you think that the ‘intellectuals’ that watch Fox News are going to grasp the fact that the government, George W. Bush’s government™ played them for the suckers that they really are?
Does anyone think that in 5 months (5 years?) the polls over the question of whether 5 speedboats suitable for fishing or water skiing were successful in threatening what, 4 US armed to the teeth tax sink holes, that resulted in the war that Bush-tard started before he left office will remember that it was all yet another incredible lie? You know, like Saddam definitely attacked the World Trade Center? You know, like Saddam for sure, honest, had massive amounts of nasty ‘WMD’s’? You know, like the ‘mushroom cloud’ that was sure to engulf the world if Bush baby didn’t get his temper tantrum and be able to attack the American treasury (Iraq). Yah think?
It’s like shooting fish in a barrel…
saying that a three engine plane is designed to fly on one is just as it was said: "Relax, the plane is designed for worse."
What was the pilot supposed to say? "Hey, we lost one. We have two left. It's designed to fly on one. What are the chances that we lose another one before we get back to Miami?"
The idea that a pilot or copilot misstated the number of engines on the plane could be that he was just a little preoccupied with what just happened. I'd commend him for announcing the issue so quickly and trying to explain it. My wife had an incident on a DC-9 described as a 'power duct problem' that means nothing and then the plane flew back to the beginning airport (nearly twenty minutes) when the incident happened less than 5 minutes from the destination. Was it a compressor stall? People were frightened and I think the airline took steps that could have endangered the passengers. To make up some 'lingo' and then fly all the way back on one good engine was interesting. Not what I would have thought. particularly when the destination had a full maintenance shop there at the airport. Whatever... Nit pickers...
Nazi style mind control...
Someone studied history and learned a hell of a lot from it. Make the people frightened and then scare them with a boggie man around every corner and they will be mad and want to strike out at anything, anywhere. Paraphrased but true and in operation.
That's why I think that in spite of Bush and the republicans and republicrats running the country off the cliff, I'm not convinced that the democrats will win this election... Not at all. It's not theirs to lose but if they do, we all lose...
But this is like the idea of dropping a nuke on Japan (twice).
It was supposed to end the war but imagine the carnage in the process.
Sometimes the best route to success isn't bombing the living shit out of a prison camp but carpet bombing Berlin and invading the death camps (does ABu Graib count?) would have been much better(?)
